Luego de ver una semifinal tan reñida ante el primer pre-clasificado y amplio favorito del certamen (el croata Borna Coric), Sebastián Báez accedió a su segunda final consecutiva y enfrentó al checo Jiri Lehecka por segunda vez en su carrera profesional. Y como lo había comentado en mi anterior publicación sobre el torneo de Winston Salem, a nuestros sudamericanos estuvimos aupando desde nuestro sentimiento latino, pero aunque el menor de los hermanos Cerúndolo cayó en su choque de cuartos de final, sería su coterráneo Sebastián Báez quien tomaría revancha ante Coric para luego sacar la casta y alzarse con el título.
