Moalboal Dog Rescue | Turn-over of Hive Donations and Transparency Report

On the first week of December, together with @chillwithshanna and @ybanezkim26, we have launched a campaign to help the rescued dogs in Moalboal. We initiated this project as our year-end activity and share the Christmas joy this season. But Super Typhoon Odette struck Cebu and this project became so much more - to give hope to the MDR management and the rescued dogs.

We were initially scheduled to hand over the donations on the 19th of December, however, due to the calamity, it became difficult to do so because of many factors. Roads were not accessible, power and communication lines were down so we couldn't access the funds, and water was scarce. Thankfully, we were finally able to withdraw the funds a day before Christmas. On Christmas Day, we finally received an update that the shelter was destroyed but the dogs were alive except one. The fence was gone so dogs were on the loose. We expected the shelter to be in destruction.

On the 26th of December, we traveled to Moalboal to hand in our donations. Reaching there at around 10:30 am, Kuya Lyndon, the caretaker, greeted us and lead us to the shelter. My heart was crushed seeing what used to be a dog's haven turned into... can't find the right words. However, the dogs slowly came out, ran towards me and @ybanezkim26. With wagging tails, they were barking endlessly as if wanting to tell us what they went through and that they were happy to see us.

The 2 dog houses were still standing but damaged. The quarantine area and cages were gone. Despite the fence being blown away, the dogs never left nor ran away. This shelter was their only home. We bid the dogs goodbye with a hopeful heart and proceeded to Kuya Lyndon's home. He shared to us that during the storm he stayed with the dogs until 9:30 pm after which he crawled his way back to his home amid the typhoon.

We entrusted the donations to Kuya Lyndon with MDR's managers Linda and Lauriane's permission. The donations include:

  1. Php 6,900 or USD 137 worth of dog medicines
  2. Php 24,000 or UDS 480 in cash donations
  3. 4 sacks of dog food from Imuha by C&B sponsored by @intoy.bugoy and @thechivalry.

As per Kuya Lyndon's words "This will greatly help the shelter. Thank you." And that was more than I needed to hear. I've also donated a solar light and canned goods for Kuya Lyndon. I and @ybanezkim26 also purchased their shirts for additional support. We can say mission accomplished but there is still more that needs to be done for Moalboal Dog Rescue and the rest of Typhoon Odette victims.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all those who supported this donation drive. We also want to send our gratitude to the following: @ocd, @threespeak, @acidyo, @theycallmedan, @singhcapital, @trafalgar, @haejin, @newsflash, @stoodkev,and @curangel. Your considerable upvotes contributed to the huge amount we were able to raise up. And to those who sent tips big or small already meant a lot as well! A total of PHP 30,900 or estimate of USD 630 dollars was given as aid to the MOALBOAL DOG RESCUE. We are forever grateful to Hive and to you.

Great work guys!! It's amazing what the community can do to help real life situations and kudos to you guys for thinking of the dogs when you still have to get your own life back in order

Thanks @livinguktaiwan! We really have the Hive community to thank for. We didn't expect that we could raise this much.

Somehow, we are slowly trying to adapt with things here and make do of what we can or find other ways to get power and signal. Trying times but it is what it is.

You're such an inspiration to those dog lovers out there or even those who started to love dogs. Thanks for sharing an amazing story. I'm happy they're safe now.

Thank you @missleray! We greatly appreciate your little help too!

You're welcome miss @indayclara.☺️

So happy that the dogs are well despite the damaged caused by the typhoon to the shelter. Thank you guyz for this heart-warming program of yours! 🤗

Thank you again for also sharing your blessings with us! It helped a lot. I'm pretty sure blessings will come back to you in many ways!

Great jobbb and thanks to everyone who organized, voted and donated!! ♥️

Well, this wouldn't be a success if it wasn't for your help too! So thanks love!

The first post I saw on fb after 2 weeks without internet because of the typhoon was about this- you sending help to these dogs. im very happy to have shared a little help. thank you for this initiative @indayclara ❤️

You are most welcome @christianyocte! And Thank you for the help too! It wouldn't be possible without all of you. I hope you are doing well and have settled as well.

What a great initiative!!!!!! Thanks for thinking about the ones that are often forgotten. Is there a way to send a little donation from my side? Like a tip on this post or somewhere else?

Hey @bulldog-joy! You can still send a tip and I will surely send it to them and give you an update. Any small donations will be really appreciated.

Done. If ever they need help with some psychological questions, I studied animal psychology and can maybe offer something besides a tip. Just mentioning. Have a good day and stay safe :).

I will surely mentioned this to you! You have an amazing work too. Thank you for the tips @bulldog-joy! It is greatly appreciated.

Hey @bulldog-joy! Just letting you know the Moalboal Dog Rescue have received your donation and sends their gratitude. 🤩

Thank you Claire for sharing, kakasad naman na the shelter was destroyed and got affected by the storm but still I am glad that Hive was able to be of help to them especially now in these hard times dyan sa Cebu.

Ingat kayo nila Kim dyan and hopefully roads and other areas will be accessible din.

Indeed @tpkidkai! If we can't adopt, the least we can do is send a little help. Hopefully they can build a roof right away.

Roads are already accessible except the one in Alegria, farthest down south. one part got tottally destroyed because of the strong waves! Me and Kim are now up north.

yay! :) what a great post to start with this morning! All the little happy doggy faces.. I liked the way u described them when they first came out and greeted u and were all trying to excitedly tell u what happened.. :P awesome!

Couldn't agree with you more! It was heartwarming seeing them happy despite what they've been through. Who knows what they felt or what they did inorder to survive the Typhoon.

Amid the damages, they are full of life. I hope to visit these doggos when I'm back in Cebu. Thank you for this donation drive.

Yes, the dogs were so full of hope and love. So it means a lot to help them rebuild their home until they get adopted.

Thank you for this amazing initiative guys! So kind of you.

@tipu curate

Thank you. We wish you a Happy New Year!

Wow that's great! Lots of generous people for the dogs' welfare.

Btw, I've also been told to convert HIVE to USDT before converting to PHP but I don't see why. Particularly the HIVE to USDT conversion. Can you perhaps share your thoughts on it?

Hello @artgirl! Thanks for dropping by! I think there are a lot of kind hearted people here in Hive.

There is no way to directly convert Hive to PHP. Check this guide: How and When to Withdraw your Hive Earnings: A Newbie Guide. Hope this helps!

Yes exactly, no way right now. Haha. That' s why I sent a message to Binance abt it. We can send feedback and request product details to change if a lot of people request it. As for the USDT exchange, yeah already found out the reason before today. Thanks for the link anyway as it is more detailed in the explanation of why use a stable coin.

God bless to everyone! As a furmom I feel like you also fed my dogs. Much love to all.
