Decentralization can be designed from the ground up to mitigate something like this —a dictatorship of the rich. This is also why any DPoS system is bound to fail again, over and over again

It's always going to fail if we just leave decision making to anybody and trying to make that decision making power equal across the board. Some are just better at using power and some have power that aren't good with it but who says which gets to have those privileges? Always a subject for debate.
each account must have the option to limit audience
even facebook knows this
allowing "friends only" and even more optional granular access
if a whale wants to blow their vote stake on "low quality spam" THAT IS THEIR RIGHT
It's a frontend issue and anyone can develop their own frontend based from the available github files of they know how to code. I believe dbuzz made a lot of changes when it comes to visibility. Now to expect all frontends to obey the same rules isnt feasible.
that's a pretty highly qualified "anyone"
What's stopping someone from not actually doing it on their own and hiring someone else to do it for them?
quite a bit actually
money and technical knowledge for starters
Yep, and how much do you think one needs to fund this platform as good as Discord? The codes are available on github for anyone who is fervent enough to make this a better place than discord for those functions. It always takes a lot of resources to get that to happen so while we can all contribute to great ideas on paper, it's always going to be someone else's time, money and effort that puts our ideas into motion if the one suggesting doesn't have those resources.
That's why anyone who opposes how things are run on the first layer can just escape to the second layer where they can be free to do their thing at their own terms. The recipe is there anyway.
I didn't read. If you don't have the luxury to type the same argument over and over again, then I'm not doing myself a service to give you the same respect as an audience. No different than a copy pasted response so might as well have a bot to call on comment !response42 to make the reply for you.
