I find the longer I'm on Hive the more cynical and frustrated I've become over how the platform is progressing. Many people are doing different things to help grow and develop Hive, and although not everyone may agree with their approach, I'd like to think a lot of it is down to differences in opinion and core beliefs. It would be naive to expect everyone's values to be aligned on Hive. If that is the case, we would have no scammers and abusers, no conspiracists and cynics, and Hive would be a perfect world.
Hope
That said, we can still hope, because if we lose that, we might as well clean out our wallet now when Hive is still worth something. I believe there is still a lot of mileage in Hive - if we have enough people with the same core values to make that happen. What we need is an inflow of strong quality users who come to Hive with the right mindset and stay for the long run. Users who are worthy of the community's support, who grow to become dolphins, to orcas, strengthening the middle class. Users who are here to contribute and help Hive grow. I've seen whales and curation guilds asking numerous times for recommendations on good quality accounts so they can expend their HP. I'm not sure how many are found. Good accounts, and new quality good accounts are pretty hard to come by nowadays.
Plan
I don't have the resources or expertise to launch a large scale onboarding program, nor do I have sufficient HP to throw a $30 upvote to keep users on Hive. Not saying either approach is wrong or ineffective, I just prefer to do things on a smaller scale slowly. What I have in mind isn't rocket science or transformational. Any support on Hive won't deviate too far from curation, delegation and mentoring. The difference in what I plan to do is speed and scale.
I'd much rather support a small core of users who have the long term vision and help them to grow. Help them to appreciate the value of Hive, understand there's no quick road to riches. Encourage them to contribute to become part of the next wave pushing Hive forward and reap the rewards they've helped to build. Drop the entitlement and focus on the long run.
Next
If all this sounds idealistic, it probably is, but remember I said I still have hope? This is the challenge I've set myself.
If you're serious about building a future on Hive and want your journey to last into the future instead of tomorrow make sure you follow @apis.hive for the next update.
Followed, though there are no posts on that apis.hive.
Also, don't get too frustrated, sometimes it takes time. About three years for me to get involved in Hive.
August 2021: I got involved in Splinterlands
August 2024: I got involved in HIVE for real and became a small Dolphin
February 11, 2025: Got a HIVE Witness going with a long term investment mindset, let's see where I am in another three four years...
That's a huge progress, I am glad that a lot of people in here still do have the same goal with Hive.
@topcomment
I'm sure there's quite few of them around, and my plan is to find out them, particularly the smaller accounts who get lost on the chain
Congrats on becoming a Hive witness!!
I'm so glad AZ has inspired you to delve into the wider Hive ecosystem. I can't match have his level of resources but am hoping I can still do whatever is possible within my scope with my new plan
March 01, 2025. Buy 10K hive from market (expected cost, $4000) and power up :)
I followed @apis-hive 😀 I'm on Hive for the long term ride. The earnings are nice (hey, it's the first time I've had a hobby that pays me, rather than costing me...), but for me it's about having a friendly social place where I can post stuff I want to post and get the stories out of my head.
Also, right now I might just have the longest-term plan of all.... stay on Hive until I pop my clogs, and leave the account to a deserving relative in my will 😁
Personally I think the social element is the best. I've met, although virtually for most, so many people from around the world. Plus I get to leave memories on the chain to look back to when I grow old. The earnings is of course the bonus and it's great to see that ball rolling over the years.
Hello! I admire everything you have done at Hive. And I understand that sometimes it's easy to feel disappointed, it happens to me frequently. I don't have as much time as you do here but I've tried to make an effort to build up my account and do what I can to help the community. Lately I don't have as much time as I would like to be here but I do what I can and I always like to come back and engage especially with my closest Hivers, I love to read their blogs and catch up and I try to help those who I think deserve a little push. And take care of the Silver Bloggers community which I think is my little home here.
It is evident that the activity has declined a lot and lately it is so difficult to find among the new users someone who seem to be here in long run. I know that many people come here with needs, I am no one to judge others. But it bothers me the people who use this as an ATM machine, without thinking that the only way to be here in the long run is to build not only an account but also relationships and support networks.
Anyway, I hope whatever you are planning is successful. I truly hope so. We need some new players with a real commitment. And if I can help and contribute my bit from my little plot, you can count on me.
It's always nice to see people come back after a hiatus, especially the valuable community members 😊, we've lost many for various reasons last year.
I do understand many people have personal needs and Hive can help, but what frustrates me are those who are here to earn but don't have the long term confidence in Hive, and those who withdraw all their liquid because it's weekly pocket money for them to buy a nice meal or new outfit. They are only interested in getting the most out of Hive and not giving back at all. Many don't even bother to engage with other people, it's just drop post, earn and withdraw.
Thanks in advance for your offer to help 😘
I thought I was following already - thanks for drawing my attention to that.
I think ultimately, when you're not among those blessed few who do have the $30 vote to throw around, I think that's all you can do. And me, I kinda prefer it, to be honest. It suits my own way of being much better than larger numbers of people I couldn't reasonably keep an eye on.
Keep the faith :) YOu're doing so much already!
Those who do get the $30 vote won't get it forever, and when that happens they'll feel so depressed because it happened all so easily for them. That's what I want to avoid doing
Thanks for your support @honeydue
Gonna head over there and follow now. Interesting stuff. It's been a long road to get to where I am account wise. I'm really dedicated to feeling and thriving here.
Sadly, many are too lazy to take the long road and prefer a short cut, they'll never get far
Indeed.
I think one of the problems is generational. We like to read blogs, look at pictures, etc. New kids like short form videos. With bitcoin and crypto pumping we should see an influx of new people, but are we? I'm not trying to be a downer, but perhaps this is as good as it gets and I'm ok with that.
Apparently there's a lot of new accounts created, I see that. But I don't see many active good real users. If there were just 10 genuine newbies joining each week who are here for the long run and not to earn a fast buck, we'd be winning 💪
And that might tie in with what I was saying, the good content creators are on Tick Tock, short form videos. Time will tell.
Followed...In it for the long haul. Just hoping to get back to Hiving more consistently. Looking to boost my HP a good bump here really soon 😃 There's always hope for a better Hive now nothing can be perfect can only strive for it.
I see a lot of new users posting consistently every day, and some even 3 or 4 times a day. When their support ends they're disappear immediately as they're used to hand outs. There's a reason the tortoise won. And I'm pretty sure those of us who's in for the long run have grasped this be simple concept
Yes I've seen this as well. It's hard to find someone who starts here with good intentions for the chain.
Maybe better supporting them when they get their feet more wet (weed out). Is that wrong or do we keep moving on only to help a small few that stay? I have changed my tactics the last two months. There is just no value powering up new users who leave when support is gone. Fornately for me some have stayed but not all. For right now I'm not doing it and I have to come up with a better plan.
It's very disappointing to see many leave when the support dries out, but you can actually tell as they quickly start to clear out the liquid as soon as they start. They had no plans to stay at the beginning.
What's your new tactic now?
I just don't know yet but thinking of maybe of a way of rewarding users who actual build thier stakes. Perhaps temporary delegations based on milestone reached such as 250hp, 500 hp, 1000 hp ??? Only drawback is I don't want to delegate too much HP. It would probably only work with a buy in with other members. Hmm The Delegation Community...
Hive is like a home to me. A source of joy and me-time. Whenever I stay away from Hive, I feel kinda emptiness. I certainly want it to thrive.
Nevertheless, I must admit certain things are disapointing. At times, I feel confused about what might be the definition of quality users. I have seen accounts producing low quality and getting high rewards. Similarly, I have also come across accounts whose content is of quality and they get high rewards, but they hardly bother to respond to people's comments on their posts. They just drop their words and cash them up.
Part of the problem you've identified is because there many blind curators who curate for their own rewards, instead of rewarding those who are worth it. Sadly there are plenty of bad curators around.
My plan is to find users or help users to create decent content and understand the value of genuine engagement, and establish themselves as a quality content creator on Hive. Many have succeeded in doing that themselves, it's not difficult to be honest, but many others just don't seem be to get it
Yeah, unfortunately, it is the case. We can only do what lies in our limitations. All of us are accountable for our own actions.
That's a nice plan. Teaching, guiding and supporting a small group of right people is likely to create a chain of the goodness. They extending the support further and so on.
Wishing you success ❤️
It is very easy to know if a user is engaged and enjoys this Blockchain. You only have to look at the way they interact and that information is available to everyone. If I can be of any help, I'm here for you.
I saw an account the other day, he did 9 comments within 5 minutes including responding to a post not written in English not his native language 😏
Thanks in advance for your help, I may take up your offer when things take off
I don't know if this is a good thing, it all depends... everything is relative. 😏😁
I've been on Hive for about 3 years now, I'm not a newcomer but I'm still learning about both Hive and Web3. I'd like to support and interact with newcomers but sometimes it can be exhausting to find the hidden gems because I've seen some people who I thought were producing very high quality content on this platform turned out to be scammers/identity thieves/artificial intelligence post writers. Maybe this initiative of yours can help me too. I know that Hive will not make anyone rich in a day, but I believe in its potential in the long run.
You've done extremely well on Hive, and I know have done great work in the Turkish community, it's just sad that the activity levels seems to have dropped.
My trust level is quite low now, and I keep a close network to safe the hassle. This project is my attempt to prove that things aren't as bad as I think they are, and I'd love for it to raise my confidence and trust level again. Let's see how it goes.
We need to clone 20 of you as well!!
Yes, the fact that the Turkish community was not active at all demotivated me too, I did my best for the community and I am still trying my best to support it.
If I can help you with anything you know how to reach me, I check my Discord account every day.
20 incublus? We would create a blast in the game industry XD
Oh, that sounds intriguing... Following the new account... 🎉
If you need some support, you know where you can find me... 🙂
All the best for your new project/initiative! 💪
Thanks so much in advance, I wouldn't mind some exposure on HHH sometime 😀
Please let me know BEFORE you launch it and we will arrange you as a special guest in the #HHHLive show!!!
You and I talked about this.
Neither apporoach worked in the past, so there is no harm in trying one.
What will happen that you will get same people who stuck around contribute, which is not a bad thing.
If I get 20 people to join my program and they in turn can contribute to Hive's growth, I'd be over the moon
That sounds great
I was just reading about @apis.hive yesterday, and I have added it as a regular feature for New Hivers in my Friday newsletter, but I forgot to follow -- done now. Interested to see where this goes!
Thanks for helping to spread the word!
Hive would be a better place if we could accumulate hp and have enough dolphins and orcas so we wouldn't leave all the work to the whales, thanks for sharing.
Lovinghive ❤️
It's great to have whales as it's a sign of confidence in Hive, though they may be more passive. Dolphins and orcas on the other hand tend to be more active and we need that activity on the change otherwise we'd just be a pool of dead water
Totally
I'm a Hive long hauler so followed 😄
Let's clone 20 of you now 😀
🤗
This is a good thought my friend and a good vision. I hope all your plans and thoughts comes to manifestation soon.
Thanks, just need to find the right people to join now
Yeah, you are very correct
And its sad because most newbies dont get the idea they just come in and out
Yup, too many come and go, and too many take but never give
Yahh thats one funny thing about people
Sounds promising - good luck with your new initiative Pauline! :)
@tipu curate 10
Thanks @phortun. Hope all is well with life and your new job
Upvoted 👌 (Mana: 0/64) Liquid rewards.
Excited to see what ideas you have!
Thanks Sara!
Followed. Can't wait to see where the journey takes you and others.
Thanks @coinjoe, I hope my plan will be able to support many accounts to grow
I am sure it will. It sounds like a good plan and the people I am sure will appreciate it it a great deal.
This could be the game-changer for me. Followed, I am excited to see more and grow on Hive.
That's great news, growing on Hive is the way to go!
Will be curious to know more..
Thanks for your support
Let us all be in one mind, working for the good of this great platform! There is no quick success anyway. If every single person sees hive to be his or her own personal business, we will give all that it takes to build and make hive great. Hive is the future of social media, and we all can own it. If we reason that we are the owners of this great platform, we will not think to extract from it, we will not think to scam with it. We will not think of powering down at every price shift. We will only device means to build and see this great platform grow unspeakably good.
I love your vision, I hope you succeed.
Thanks
Take it you're not planning to be here for the long run?
As long as hive exist

@livinguktaiwan, I paid out 0.855 HIVE and 0.272 HBD to reward 23 comments in this discussion thread.
I would love to strengthen my account leaving all my rewards to charge them 100% in HP but sadly alive in Cuba and I must use stop my reward to subsist.
Hive has literally been a source of survival for me and my family and most grateful for it.
Is there any other way to increase my HP?
Thank you.
I understand things are difficult in a Cuba and Hive can help many people in need. The program is not asking people to keep 100% of l their earnings on Hive, don't worry.
All we ask is for people not to withdraw all the liquid rewards, and keep a little to build up their account. At the moment your account is just very slightly over the threshold, we can help you work on that and give you some support as well. Please feel free to join our website, and discord
