Genesis League Goals: How to Start With GLG

If you love soccer and enjoy sports gaming, then Genesis League Goals (GLG) is a game you may want to try. It combines card collecting, sports management and play to earn. GLG is a fun and rewarding gaming experience for soccer and sports gaming fans.

How to Start With GLG?

Franchise License

Players will need a Franchise License. Basically, it's the same as a Spellbook in Splinterlands. You will need it to unlock P2E elements in the game. Players can choose a Franchise bundle below.

Building Your Team

Coach

A team needs a coach which is similar to a summoner in Splinterlands. The coach gives the team certain buffs to boost their stats in the game. Each coach has a different buff and similar to Splinterlands, the better the buff, the more expensive the coach.

Players

A team needs seven players and five substitutes. Each starting lineup needs a goalkeeper, two forwards, two midfielders and two defenders. You can choose more than the required number per position which you can put in your substitutes.

Market

After buying a Franchise, you can get players and coaches from the in-game market. Checking the market, there are available cards that you can buy at affordable prices to start the game.

There are no player or coach images at the moment but we can rely on the players stats if we want to choose the best cards. For example, for defenders I guess the best stats are the defensive stats like Intercept (IN) and Tackle (TA). For goalkeepers, the best stats are Block (BL) and Pass (PA).

Upgrading Cards

Similar to Splinterlands, cards can be upgraded but in GLG, cards need "Proof of Play" or experience (XP). Cards that gain XP can be levelled up and gain more stats. Aside from levelling up, cards can also be combined as determined by the number of stars in the upper left side of the card. Combining cards unlocks more buff slots potentially making the card stronger.

Thoughts and Suggestion

Having played Splinterlands, I'm familiar with how GLG can be played. It has similar elements like collecting player and coach cards, combining and the turn based gameplay. Aside from sports gaming and soccer fans, Splinterlands players like me could easily get into the game.

On the other hand, I would suggest that cards have images in them even if not based on real soccer players. It just makes the card more pleasing to look at and collect with actual images in them instead of just stats. This could be temporary or may even be an interchangeble skin should the game renew its contract with MLSPA. Imagine an elf soccer player skin can be interchanged with an image of a real soccer player.
