Fund Raiser - Helping a friend with funding for a Wedding!
This post is part of the current Fund Raiser where a friend has given me an offer to buy a collection of Warhammer models, the money will go to putting down deposits for his wedding arrangements.
After that I have two other hobby debts to sort out.
I am collecting funds in the following ways:
- Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD
- Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD
- Selling some of the collection to friends.
The total needed is $575 (R10,000 ZAR).

What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!

Aeldari, Dire Avengers
10th Edition Index
Dire Avengers are the elite shooting infantry of the Aeldari army. They are an Aspect Temple, complete with a Phoenix Lord - Asurmen which I have reviewed already.
Of course, this unit becomes far more brutal when you field it with the Phoenix Lord leading them!
They are 70pts for a unit of 5 and 140pts for a unit of 10 models.
A box is $45 for a squad of 5, so you need to spend $90 to have a squad of 10 models.

Toughness 3
Save 4+/5++ (armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 1 (2 for the Exarch - squad leader)
Ld 6+

Weapons
Only the Exarch has weapon options. He has the following flavours:
- Dual Avenger Shuriken catapults
- Shuriken pistol and one of the two swords.
- Shimmershield and one of the two swords.
Ranged Weapons
Avenger Shuriken Catapult
18" Range, 3 Shots, Hitting on 3+, S4, AP-1 and 1 Damage each.
Assault (This weapon can be fired after the unit has advanced)
Lethal Hits (Hit rolls of 6 automatically wound their target)
Shuriken Pistol
12" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 3+, S4, AP-1 and 1 Damage each.
Assault (This weapon can be fired after the unit has advanced)
Pistol (This weapon can be fired while this model is in Engagement Range of an enemy)
Melee Weapons
Close Combat Weapon
2 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S3, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Diresword
3 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S4, AP-2 and 1 Damage each.
Devastating Wounds (Wound rolls of 6 to wound cause Mortal Wounds)
Power Glaive
3 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S5, AP-2 and 1 Damage each.
Abilities
Defence Tactics
Each time you target this unit with the Fire Overwatch Stratagem, they hit on 5+ instead of 6+. While this unit is within range of an objective you control, they hit on 4+ instead!
Thoughts
A unit with the ability to lay down volumes of Lethal hits while Advancing and while hitting accurately on an Overwatch are decent assets.
I feel it is better to run them as 10 man units but of course, you would need to buy that amount of models.
They are not good at Close Combat though and will need a combat support unit to defend them from threats.
That makes 36 Aeldari Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 50% Completed. The total Completed is 21.31% Complete! Can I review them all?!
