Swears an Oath to Khorne! If it fails it dies!

Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!

Now known as the Unit Review Library!

What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!

A New Season of Reviews - A Challenge accepted!

The nefarious trio of World Eaters, Death Guard and Thousand Sons are set to get their new Codexes next. Actually, the great FOUR are each getting their favourite Legion's new Codexes but Emperor's Children did not have an actual Index before.

Anyway. I was speaking to my friend @nicolaasmuller about how my Review posts might not make a lot of money for me, but that cumulatively and on average some of them do good and overall there is an average that at least means that there is good movement of income into the Hobby Fund and that it would grow from there.

We were throwing around some numbers and looking at the average of my last 10 Review Posts, 20 Review posts and 30 Review Posts and we could come up with a range of how much I should theoretically be making across a large sample size of completing the remainder of the reviews for the nefarious trio mentioned above.

So Nicolaas says to me something along the lines of: That would be pretty cool if you could do it in like, a month. Maybe do like 2 a day.

So I explained it would be a little bit more than that but sure... it would be cool... is that a challenge? And yeah... here I am... Challenge accepted. 😎

It is now Day 16 of the Challenge.

Totals so far: 22/70 Datasheets done, 3/3 Army Rules done, 0/6 Detachment Rules done. Total 25/79.

Time elapsed: 53.33%
Progress completed: 31.64%

Hobby Fund - Working myself into the clear

With my hobby posts, I generate a hobby fund. 50% of the income goes into the fund. At the moment I put all my HBD earned from Warhammer posts into my alt account @zakl.hobbyfund.

I am collecting funds in the following ways:

  • Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD
  • Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD
  • Selling some of the collection to friends.

At the current count I am paying off some hobby debts. I still have $291 to pay off!

Every bit counts!

Back to the review.

The whole project has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.

I should have started when 10th edition launched!
639 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #276, I am 363 reviews behind! (Lowest I have been is 314 behind)

World Eaters, World Eaters Daemon Prince with Wings

10th Edition Index

Right. Each one of these God-focussed Factions has a Daemon Prince and then a Daemon Prince with wings.

You realize that they are not Epic Heroes and thus you can have up to 3 of each in your army?!

Anyway. Just like the other armies, the Winged Daemon Prince for the World Eaters is the same as its on foot counterpart but it is faster and has different unit rules. This one is quite interesting and fun!

They are 170pts and cost $84 to buy.

Let's check their stats!

Stats

Movement 12"
Toughness 9
Save 2+/4+ (armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 10
Ld 6+
OC 3

Weapons

Ranged Weapons

Infernal Cannon

24" Range, 3 Shots, Hitting on 2+, S5, AP-1 and 2 Damage each.

Melee Weapons

Hellforged Seapons - Strike

6 Attacks, Hitting on 2+, S10, AP-2 and 3 Damage each.

Hellforged Seapons - Sweep

14 Attacks, Hitting on 2+, S8, AP0 and 1 Damage each.

Abilities

Deadly Demise D3 (When this model is destoryed, roll a dice, on a 6 it blows up dealing D3 Mortal Wounds to every unit within 6" of it)
Deep Strike (When kept in Reserves, this unit can be brought to the table during the Reinforcements step and set up anywhere on the table more than 9" away from the enemy.

Bloodied Terror

At the start of the Fight Phase, each enemy unit within engagement range of this model must take a Battle-shock test.

Oath to Khorne

At the start of the battle, select one unit from your opponent's army to be this unit's sworn foe.

This model gets to re-roll to Hit and re-roll to Wound against the sworn foe.

At the end of the battle, if the sworn foe was not destroyed, then this model is destroyed.

Thoughts

Practically, I do not know if this model dying at the end of the battle will make any difference to the outcome to a standard 2000pts game and mission. But it is a lot of fun!

Being able have his Daemon Prince die by keeping the sworn enemy alive seems like a lot of fun.

This unit is really good at 170pts. Even without the Oath to Khorne, it is deadly.

And then its sworn foe is very dead if it gets there and it has wings... but sometimes this can also be used to play mind games!

That makes 11 World Eaters Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 47.82% Completed. The total Completed is 30.13% Complete! Can I review them all?!

Thank you for reading!

Sort:

it's really cheap for a really fun unit to field 2 or 3 of and just have them running around the battlefield and messing with the enemy. cool buff they gain from having a sworn enemy especially since everything hits on a 2+. awesome model though.

!INDEED

I think needing to deal with 3 of them would be a terrifying prospect!

Plus Angron! 😫😫😫

forgot all about angron😶

Wait till you have to play against him!
