Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
Now known as the Unit Review Library!
What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
A New Season of Reviews - A Challenge accepted!
The nefarious trio of World Eaters, Death Guard and Thousand Sons are set to get their new Codexes next. Actually, the great FOUR are each getting their favourite Legion's new Codexes but Emperor's Children did not have an actual Index before.
Anyway. I was speaking to my friend @nicolaasmuller about how my Review posts might not make a lot of money for me, but that cumulatively and on average some of them do good and overall there is an average that at least means that there is good movement of income into the Hobby Fund and that it would grow from there.
We were throwing around some numbers and looking at the average of my last 10 Review Posts, 20 Review posts and 30 Review Posts and we could come up with a range of how much I should theoretically be making across a large sample size of completing the remainder of the reviews for the nefarious trio mentioned above.
So Nicolaas says to me something along the lines of: That would be pretty cool if you could do it in like, a month. Maybe do like 2 a day.
Alteration So @nicolaasmuller and I worked out that firstly - due to family obligations, I had missed out on some days not being able to blog at all and having no laptop with me and more on the way... and the fact that he had said 2x posts a day from the start would have made it a 40 day challenge. I shall adjust that number below going forward...
So I explained it would be a little bit more than that but sure... it would be cool... is that a challenge? And yeah... here I am... Challenge accepted. 😎
It is now Day 35 of the Challenge.
Totals so far: 66/70 Datasheets done, 3/3 Army Rules done, 1/6 Detachment Rules done. Total 70/79.
Time elapsed: 87.5%
Progress completed: 88.60%
Hobby Fund - Working myself into the clear
With my hobby posts, I generate a hobby fund. 50% of the income goes into the fund. At the moment I put all my HBD earned from Warhammer posts into my alt account @zakl.hobbyfund.
I am collecting funds in the following ways:
- Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD
- Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD
- Selling some of the collection to friends.
At the current count I am paying off some hobby debts. I still have $295 to pay off!
Every bit counts!
Back to the review.
The whole project has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!
659 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #320, I am 339 reviews behind! (Lowest I have been is 314 behind)
Thousand Sons, Tzaangor Enlightened
10th Edition Index
Tzaangor are not Daemons, they are Beastmen. Those that become enlightened are said to commune with a facet of Tzeetch, allowing them to peer through the skein of reality and into the future.
Much like Aeldari and Imperial Psykers, I believe that this has to do with seeing probable potentials. The future is not owned by any specific God or Daemon and thus potentials always remain part of an unknown outcome.
But you can nudge the fates in your favour.
These birds come with 3 different loadouts but there is 1 weapon option that is far superior in my books.
Let's have a look!
It is 50pts for 3 models and 80pts for 6 models. What?! Why are people not playing this?
You can buy 3 models in a box for $58

Thoughts
Right, let's start with the three layouts:
Autopistol and Chainsword is dumb and useless.
Divining Spears are cool, but you expect a small unit of T4 Sv 5+/6++ W2 units to make it into combat? Maybe once, hopefully they kill the character, if not... they will not likely get another chance...
The obvious superiour option is the Greatbows. 2 shots each at 30", you can hide the unit a bit and not expose them to the entire enemy army. S5 Ap-1 Damage 2.
A Squad of 6 has 12 shots, 6 hits, 4 wounds on a Marine in the open. With or without a save average of 2 unsaved wounds, 4 Damage. Most Mid-level Marine Leaders have 4 wounds. If they kill the leader and their damage spills over, the other unsaved wounds kill Space Marines. For 80pts this is a bargain.
This unit can also be used to claim objectives or to do Actions. Really good unit!
That makes 27 Thousand Sons Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 96.24% Completed. The total Completed is 34.93% Complete! Can I review them all?!
