Before you think this tank is normal...
The Baneblade is in the middle...
Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
Now known as the Unit Review Library!
What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!
479 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #156, I am 323 reviews behind! (Lowest I have been is 314 behind)
January 2025 we are expecting Astra Militarum and Aeldari codexes as explained Here, so time to focus on THOSE Datasheets!
Astra Militarum, Baneblade
10th Edition Index
Let me start this out by explaining that a Baneblade is a Titanic Vehicle which was not normally allowed in games of 40k. With 2000pts on the field and often facing things like Imperial Knights, this 480pts tank is a quarter of your army... but it has a lot of guns and a huge statline.
$185 and it is yours! lol
Let's check his stats!
Stats
Movement 9"
Toughness 13
Save 2+(armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 24
Ld 7+
OC 8
Weapons
This comes standard with:
Baneblade cannon
Co-axial autocannon
Demolisher cannon
Heavy stubber
2x lascannons
Twin heavy bolter
2x twin heavy flamers;
It can then have the following additional:
2 lascannons and 2 twin heavy bolters
or
2 lascannons and 2 twin heavy flamers
And it can exchange its 2 twin heavy flamers with 2 twin heavy bolters.
Ranged:
Baneblade cannon
72" Range, 3D6 Shots, Hitting on 4+. S12, AP-2 and 3 Damage each.
Blast (Add an additional Attack per 5 enemies rounding down)
This is already an impressive weapon. A Random number of shots between 3 and 18, you should get around 9 or 10 on an average roll. Strength like a Lascannon, Decent AP and 3 flat damage can kill Terminators or hammer in 3 points of damage into tanks to chip them apart.
Co-axial autocannon
48" Range, 2 Shots, Hitting on 4+. S9, AP-1 and 3 Damage each.
Demolisher Cannon
24" Range, D6+3 Shots, Hitting on 4+. S14, AP-3 and D6 Damage each.
Blast (Add an additional Attack per 5 enemies rounding down)
This is the same cannon as is on my Vindicators but with Guardsman Accuracy.
Heavy Stubber
36" Range, 3 Shots, Hitting on 4+. S4, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Rapid Fire 3 (This weapon gains 3 additional attacks at half range of 18")
Lascannon (so 6 of these in total)
48" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 4+. S12, AP-3 and D6+1 Damage each.
Twin Heavy Bolter (I would run the option that takes 5 of these)
36" Range, 3 Shots, Hitting on 4+. S5, AP-1 and 2 Damage each.
Sustained Hits 1 (On a 6 ti hit, gain an attitional Hit)
Twin Linked (Re-roll to Wound rolls)
Twin Heavy Flamers (The layout starts with 2, you could make it 4 of them or 0)
12" Range, D6 Shots, Hitting on Auto, S5, AP-1 and 1 Damage each.
Torrent (Auto Hits, just roll for the number of attacks and then roll to Wound)
Ignores Cover (Targets do not get Benefit of Cover against this atttack)
Twin Linked (Re-roll to Wound rolls)
Melee:
Armoured tracks
6 Attacks, Hitting on 4+. S8, AP 0 and 1 Damage each.
Abilities
Deadly Demise D6+2 (When it blows up, it does so in style!)
Rolling Fortress
When the enemy shoot at units behind the Baneblade, if the target unit is not fully visible because the Baneblade is in the way, they get Benefit of Cover.
Basically its moving terrain vs Shooting.
Thoughts
This tank is an absolute unit. It would be difficult to remove from the battlefield but is not strategically agile.
It has plenty of guns and will be able to blow away most things it comes across.
It is a lot of points all in one place as well.
For Large Scale games I feel that it is perfect! On a standard board, this tank might be difficult to move around...
That makes 9 Astra Militarum Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 10.11% Completed. The total Completed is 16.05% Complete! Can I review them all?!
Thank you for reading!

Love the model but hate to face it😳
Heheh Indeed. It's not that bad... its not that accurate... but I suppose if you have a Baneblade, you probably will invest in a Tank Commander as well to buff it to BS +3!
!LOL
Aaaa been a while, and big brother isn't giving up. The Baneblade is such an iconic and intimidating presence on the battlefield. It’s a beast of a tank with firepower to match, but mobility... Nah 🤔
Indeed. Never mind its movement speed. What that thing will struggle to do is to move through a battlefield.
And yeah, No I am not giving up. I have this series planned ahead 100 posts or more.
The main reason for that is that I need to try finish Astra Militarum and Aeldari before they get new books.
