For several days I had been thinking about a design for an accessory dedicated to the day of the tree, since the community had launched an initiative to celebrate this day among us. The truth is that I found it very interesting and although I was thinking about what to do, I already had a fixed idea in my mind, a tree charm.
I really liked the final result of this creation, so I invite you to join me in the creative process.

Desde hace varios días había estado pensando en un diseño para un accesorio dedicado al día del árbol, pues en la comunidad se había lanzado una iniciativa para celebrar este día entre nosotros. La verdad me pareció muy interesante y aunque estuve pensando qué hacer, ya en mi mente tenía una idea fija, un dije de un árbol.
Me gustó mucho el resultado final de esta creación, así que los invito a que me acompañen en el proceso creativo.
Step by step
The materials I used for this piece were: flexible dough, paint, jewelry pin and ring, as well as my jewelry tools.
First I separated the flexible dough from the rest, to use only the small piece I needed. Then I mixed it a little with gold paint to give that color to the dough.
Paso a paso
Los materiales que utilicé para esta obra fueron: masa flexible, pintura, alfiler de bisutería y argolla, además de mis herramientas de bisutería.
Primeramente la masa flexible la separé del resto, para usar solamente el pequeño trozo que necesitaba. Luego lo mezclé un poco con pintura dorada para darle ese color a la masa.

After coloring the dough, I started working on it. It should be noted that all this has to be done very quickly due to the type of material it is, which tends to sift quite fast and harden if left in the air.
The first thing I did was to mold the flexible piece of dough into a flat circle as round as possible. I didn't have a mold, so I simply used my hands to make this circle. It doesn't have to be perfect, just try to do the best you can. At this point, before it hardens, you can place inside this circle or tortilla, the costume jewelry pin that will serve as the clasp of the charm.
Después de dar color a la masa, comencé a trabajar en esta. Cabe destacar que todo esto hay que hacerlo muy rápido debido al tipo de material que es, que suele cercarse bastante rápido y endurecerse si se deja al aire.
Lo primero que hice fue moldear el trozo de masa flexible en un círculo plano lo más redondo posible. No tenía un molde, así que simplemente usé mis manos para hacer este circulo. No tiene que ser perfecto, simplemente traten de hacerlo lo mejor que puedan. En este punto, antes de que se endurezca, pueden colocar en el interior de este círculo o tortilla, el alfiler de bisutería que servirá como gancho del dije.

Once it hardened a little, I started working on the inside of this circle. Evidently the material was still a little wet, it had hardened but it was still workable.
So, I took my molding tools and began to shape the inside. The first thing I did was to outline the rounded edge that the pendant would have, and then I began to mold the tree inside.
It wasn't easy, I have to admit, because of how small it is and the amount of details that a tree has and that I obviously had to capture in the pendant.
Una vez se endureció un poco, comencé a trabajar en el interior de este circulo. Evidentemente el material aún estaba un poco húmedo, había endurecido pero se podía trabajar aún.
Así pues, tomé mis herramientas de moldeado y comencé a dar forma al interior. Lo primero que hice fue remarcar el borde redondeado que tendría el dije, para luego comenzar a moldear el árbol en su interior.
No fue sencillo, he de admitir, por lo pequeño que es y por la cantidad de detalles que un árbol tiene y que obviamente debía plasmar en el dije.

After being molding for a long time, I finished the pendant and the shape of the tree, with all the details I wanted to add to it. Below you can see how it turned out.
Después de estar moldeando por un buen tiempo, terminé el dije y la forma del árbol, con todos los detalles que deseaba agregarle al mismo. A continuación pueden ver cómo quedó.
Even though it would look good once it dried, as it would bring out the gold, I took my paints and started applying diluted black paint to darken and highlight the small lines and details on the pendant. Likewise, I used gold to highlight the protruding parts and give relief and depth to the tree.
A pesar de que se vería bien una vez se secara, pues así resaltaría el dorado, tomé mis pinturas y comencé a aplicar pintura negra diluida para oscurecer y resaltar las pequeñas líneas y detalles que tenía el dije. De igual manera, usé dorado para resaltar las partes sobresalientes y dar relieve y profundidad al árbol.

At this point, after the whole piece had dried, I placed a ring on the jewelry pin that held the pendant and attached a black snakeskin necklace.
Ya en este punto, después de que secó toda la pieza, le coloqué una argolla en el alfiler de bisutería que sostenía el dije y le coloqué un collar de piel de serpiente negra.
