As we stroll peacefully through the village center, we make our way toward Castell de Begur. This walk gives us the chance to admire magnificent residences, witnesses to a prosperous era.
These houses, once owned by wealthy merchants, tell the story of the "Indianos"—the people of Begur who, in the 19th century, emigrated to South America in the hope of making their fortune. After years of exile and success in trade, particularly in tobacco and other valuable goods, they returned to their hometown, investing their wealth in elegant homes inspired by colonial architecture.
En flânant paisiblement à travers le centre du village, nous nous dirigeons vers le Castell de Begur. Cette promenade nous offre l’occasion d’admirer de magnifiques demeures, témoins d’une époque prospère.
Ces maisons, autrefois propriétés de riches marchands, racontent l’histoire des "Indianos", ces habitants de Begur qui, au XIXème siècle, ont émigré en Amérique du Sud dans l’espoir d’y faire fortune. Après des années d’exil et de succès dans le commerce, notamment du tabac et d’autres denrées précieuses, ils sont revenus dans leur village natal, investissant leurs richesses dans des demeures élégantes inspirées de l’architecture coloniale.
