Another wonderful surprise orchestrated by our son! Today, we are boarding a bus from Kanazawa without knowing the final destination.
First rule: be on time at the departure point outside Kanazawa Station. Here in the Land of the Rising Sun, punctuality is a true institution, almost an art form (and let’s be honest, it’s quite a change from France!). Unsurprisingly, the bus departs precisely at the announced time, a precision that remains consistent throughout the journey.
The trip takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. Yet again, we arrive at our destination right on time, as promised.
The road ahead is a spectacle in itself. Much of the journey follows the Shō River Valley, revealing breathtaking scenery. Between forest-covered mountains, glistening winding rivers, and carefully maintained rice fields, every turn offers a new postcard-worthy view. (I hope the photos below will capture even a fraction of this beauty!)
As the journey progresses, excitement builds: we learn that the final stop is none other than Shirakawa-gō, a historic village listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This little slice of paradise, famous for its traditional thatched-roof houses (the iconic gasshō-zukuri), promises a deep dive into Japanese history and culture. The anticipation is palpable: this day already feels unforgettable and filled with the best of prospects!
Encore une belle surprise orchestrée par notre fils ! Aujourd'hui, nous embarquons pour un trajet en car depuis Kanazawa, sans en connaître la destination finale.
Première consigne : être à l’heure au point de départ, à l’extérieur de la gare de Kanazawa. Ici, au pays du Soleil Levant, la ponctualité est une véritable institution, presque un art de vivre (et disons-le, cela nous change un peu de la France !). Sans surprise, le car démarre pile à l’heure annoncée, une précision qui se révèlera constante tout au long du trajet.
Le voyage dure environ 1 heure et 15 minutes à 1 heure et 30 minutes, selon les conditions de circulation. Mais une fois encore, nous arrivons à destination à la minute près, comme promis.
La route qui s'étire devant nous est un spectacle à elle seule. Une grande partie du trajet longe la vallée de la Shō River, dévoilant des paysages époustouflants. Entre les montagnes recouvertes de forêts, les rivières scintillantes qui serpentent et les rizières soigneusement entretenues, chaque virage offre une nouvelle carte postale. (J’espère que les photos ci-dessous réussiront à capturer une fraction de cette beauté !).
Pendant le trajet, l’enthousiasme monte : nous apprenons que le terminus n’est autre que Shirakawa-gō, un village historique inscrit au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO.
Ce petit coin de paradis, célèbre pour ses maisons traditionnelles au toit de chaume (les fameuses gasshō-zukuri), promet une immersion dans l'histoire et la culture japonaise. L'excitation est palpable : cette journée s'annonce mémorable et placée sous les meilleurs auspices !
