What a pleasure it is to wander through this peaceful village and admire the magnificent thatched roofs of the traditional houses. These are the famous gasshō-zukuri (合掌造り), a unique Japanese architectural style characterized by steeply sloped roofs, designed to withstand the region’s heavy snowfall. In winter, the scene must look completely different...
The term gasshō means "hands in prayer," referring to the shape of the roofs, which resemble joined hands. A true marvel of Japanese heritage!
But already, it’s time for us to hit the road again toward our next destination: Takayama!
Quel plaisir de flâner dans ce village paisible, et de contempler ces magnifiques toits de chaume des maisons traditionnelles. Ce sont les célèbres gasshō-zukuri (合掌造り), un style architectural japonais unique qui se distingue par ses toits fortement inclinés, conçus pour résister aux abondantes chutes de neige de la région. En hiver, l'image doit être totalement différente...
Le terme gasshō signifie "mains en prière", en référence à la forme des toits qui rappellent des mains jointes. Une véritable merveille du patrimoine nippon !
