We are in the heart of the historic city, in what is known as the Força Vella. This district forms the original core of Girona, dating back to its foundation during the Roman era in the 1st century BC.
The term "Força Vella" refers to the fortified enclosure built by the Romans to protect their colony. This perimeter is still marked by the original walls, partially preserved and integrated into the medieval fortifications that followed.

Today, our destination is the Arab Baths, a unique architectural gem. Although their name suggests an Arab origin, they are actually inspired by Roman baths and Islamic architecture.
These baths, built in the 12th century during the Romanesque period, bear witness to the cultural influence and traditions of the medieval era.

Nous sommes au cœur de la ville historique, dans ce que l’on appelle la Força Vella. Ce quartier constitue le noyau originel de Gérone, remontant à sa fondation à l’époque romaine au I^er siècle avant J.-C.
Le terme "Força Vella" désigne l’enceinte fortifiée érigée par les Romains pour protéger leur colonie. Ce périmètre est encore marqué par les murailles d’origine, partiellement conservées et intégrées aux fortifications médiévales qui ont suivi.

Aujourd’hui, notre destination est les Bains Arabes, un joyau architectural unique. Bien que leur nom suggère une origine arabe, ils s’inspirent en réalité des thermes romains et de l’architecture islamique.
Ces bains, construits au XII^ème siècle durant la période romane, témoignent de l’influence culturelle et des traditions de l’époque médiévale.
