If you would ask me what my favourite mode of transportation would be, I would surely answer you that I would take the train on any given day over any other form of transport.
Take the time, sit back and relax, crack a beer, stare out of the window for a bit. Usually when I need to head out on a longer train trip, I just reserve the whole day for it and then see what happens. If there is any sort of delay....well so be it.
Because...especially when you are travelling through Germany by train, the chance of you reaching your destination at your planned time is literally a chance of zero percent.
But I don't really care about the delay
You just take your time, take the whole day for whatever you need, take your supplies in food and drink wise (that is maybe already the main reason for travelling by train, you can just take anything you want and need along with you and get even get crap drunk if you would like that) and just wait for the time to pass.
No the main challenge this time that staretd was there was also snow in the Netherlands. And that happens maybe one day per year and that is even when you take it on the optimistic side. There literally is hardly any snow.
So when that snow starts to fall, that is when the train maybe starts. That is when the traintracks start to freeze up, the electricity cabels breakdown and the trains slide on the tracks. In other words: when there is snowfall, the Dutch trains also become extremely unreliable. And ofcourse that is always on the day when you planned to travel somewhere.
The sights outside are beautiful though because of the snow
And that is where the coolness comes on in when the whole world turns into a black and white painting. I would almost say that these snowy snaps are not even edited but they are like this because the world is so black and white, but that is not the case of course ;)
It does look like a painting though, or the setting from some kind of horror movie where would want to scream to people to not walk into the woods because they will never come back!!
Passing these kinds of woods I am always wondering what kind of wildlife is stuck in there, and whatever is looking at me when I am passing there. Would they be annoyed when the train passes with the German speed that it should go (that is is 280 kilometer per hour, which is actually damn fast and you can feel yourself then being pressed into your seat)?
And would they enjoy the scenery as much as that I am doing at that same moment? Who know...All I know I'm heading back to staring to the outdoors. Back to the black and white outside world....
Agree. It's a shame.
That's why I'll always prefer automobile.
Im always a bit puzzled with this is just impossible to get the ride done in time, while if you cross the swiss border...this literally always goes on the second without any issues.
But...I just calculate an infinity amount of time for my journey and that is when you can truly start chill mode (and with that delay, get half of your ticket price back as a refund)
With you on train as probably the favourite means of transportation... and with snowy landscapes, even better! !BEER
Yeah it is just super chill mode.. Sit back and relax and enjoy the delay..take a !BEER while waiting and looking outside hahaha
