Hello everyone
Greetings to you all in this community today @diyhub I hope you all are doing great, it's a beautiful day out here and I'm glad to share with you the cutting and sewing process of this simple design of a folded single card slot I made from pieces of fabric with a pressing button to hold it firm.
This is one of the simplest card slot I've made and it's to easy as well as very useful, it is my doings to always make use of the last piece of fabric until there was nothing to use again, I love making use of left over fabrics to create something nice and useful and this is one of my creativity. I made an expandable pouch last week and from the fabric I used, there are some left over which I thought would be useful instead of disposing them, I can easily give this out to someone though, I don't really have anyone in mind presently to give this to but I'm sure there is someone out there who will come for it. I just thought it's better than to dispose these pieces.
Let me take you through the simple process to achieve this.
I measured and cut out a rectangle shape of 12 x 5" for the main card slot with lining.
The main fabric was folded in two as I curve the edges with 1.5"
I cut out the handle of 4 x 3" which was folded and sewn together on both sides.
I measured 8" from the top and placed the handle on it before I placed the lining on it and it was sewn together.
It was sewn round, leaving an opening by the side where it can be turned inside out. The excess lining were trimmed off and it was turned inside out.
It was folded up from the handle and sewn on round thereby top stitching on the other sides as well.
Finally, it was folded up again for me to locate where to fix the pressing button, which I did.
This is is final outcome and I hope you like it.
My cash and cards were inserted in it before it was folded to secure it with the pressing button.
Your pieces of fabric can do alot for you, instead of disposing them, I hope you like how simple and useful this is.
