Why we are asking for your donations?

This is different to many other communities who pay out max. 80% and we are doing this since DIYHUB was born. It is a core principle of DIYHUB that we don't harvest the curation rewards from your delegations.
But that also means that we fully rely on author rewards which are unfortunately not reasonable high at the moment in our opinion. We put out manually written posts almost every day or even twice a day but do not receive the financial support we would like to get. Perhaps this will change some day in future but we have to work with/on the current situation and ask for your help to keep this project thriving and growing!
Following up with How you can help us: You can decline your daily delegation rewards now! we now have extended the functionalities for delegators so you can decline just a portion of your rewards and with this donate it to @DIYHUB. This way you will be still able to earn delegation rewards but you also support us automatically at the same time.
For what do we need those donations?
Usage in the prioritized order:
- We are running a monthly contest where we want to build up bigger contest prizes for.
- We would like to pay team members a bit for special tasks except writing posts.
- We would like to accumulate more HP constantly in order to have a bigger vote for our own community.
How can you donate?
The donation is set in percent from 1-100 % and will get calculated with your part of the overall curation rewards. If you are open to donate a portion of your delegation rewards to us, simply mention it in the comments under this post. Also we can have a talk via our discord server. We can always change your settings in a matter of seconds so please give it a try.
For example:
@tibfox set his payout to 50% which means that the remaining 50% of his delegation rewards will serve for community account purposes.
It would be amazing to see some of you using this feature to donate something back to DIYHub. We try our best to run and maintain this community and project and with your donation it will be much easier to do so!

An idea could be to set a minimum for delegations to receive rewards also? It may leave a little dust, that can be added to DIYHUB funds?
Hey thank you for the donation! We had a minimum in the past and decided to not set a minimum. If a delegator does not have much HP but want to show the appreciation they can delegate what they can and still earn 0.001hive as a think you and ecouragement to raise it over time. Also it would be hard to estimate and communicate what "the minimum" is because it will change related to the incoming delegations. The dust is important for the people who does not have much HP - that's why the minimum is not a thing anymore :) It's not the small delegations that let us struggle - it is the big ones :P
