Diy : crafting an ankara purse

in DIYHub2 months ago

Greetings to my fellow diyhubers and creative people of this wonderful community, i have come once again in this community @diyhub to share one of my creativity with you all an. It's my mother's birthday and i wanted to gift her with something unique and something that reflects my appreciation and unwavering love towards her. Inspired by her love and fondness for African prints, I envisioned a stylist, beautiful African kettle bag that would complement my mom's elegant sense of style.

After much thought on what to do I settled on a kettle purse design, it's sleek shape and design with its portability made it the perfect gift for my mom and for daily use.

PROCESS INVOLVED

step 1

Firstly, with my scissors and my ruler I measured 5 inches by 20 inches on my cardboard and carton, then I cut it out.

step 2

After doing that, I then cut both the carton and the cardboard to the required shape and fold them bit by bit.

step 3

As I finished with that process, I then cut the edges of both the cardboard and the carton so it will lap when i apply my fabric material.

step 5

As I still continued crafting the purse, I measured carton by the length 3 inches by 6 inches and cut off into two pieces and gum it to my black fabric, and then I attached it to the side of the body of the purse.

step 6

I then applied some gum all over the body of the black fabric that has already taken the shape of the purse and then I gum my red Ankara fabric material to it to add a little bit of design and colors to it.

step 7

In this step, I then made the handle of the purse by cutting out a long piece of black Ankara fabric and fold it together and then I gum it to the sides of the purse.

As I finished up the purse and the final step was made I held the completed Ankara purse, admiring its beauty and the joy it will bring to my mother. With every step and process carefully carved into making this craft here is my final result and some pictures.

As i presented the purse to her she was very much happy and in that moment I realized that crafting something out of love is more than just a handmade gift, it was a piece of my love and care towards my mother.
