I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Super Holiday! This is my first entry into this great community and I hope you love the simple craft I have made—a paper peg basket.
Materials Needed;
- Glue stick
- Cardboard ( green and pink colours)
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Scissors
Step 1;
Cut out a circle 🔴 9cm in diameter from the pink cardboard
Step 2;
Then cut out Ten (2cmx12cm) strips
Step 3;
Arrange the ten strips in the fan-like pattern shown below and glue them down;
Step 4;
Fold up the strips sticking out the sides of the basket. Each side should come up to the same height to form a cup-like shape as seen below;
Step 5;
Work with at least two colours of paper so there will be a definite contrast in pattern.
So I cut out Four (2cm by 30cm) strips from the green cardboard paper;
Step 6;
I glue both ends to form circular shapes;
Step 7;
I start with the green circular strip, pushing it down the sides of the basket, weaving under, over, under over, each of the pink strips.
I grab another green circular strip and begin weaving it in the opposite pattern. If the first circular strip started under, this one should start over.
Weaving is simply creating the under over pattern. As the strips get woven they go up and down, over and under the weaving base as shown below;
Step 8;
I keep weaving until the basket reaches its required height or I have woven all the paper strips that I have room for, I tuck them in with dots of glue to secure the open ends so my basket stays finished;
Step 9;
For some flowery decorations for my basket, I cut out five (4cm by 4cm) paper to make some flowers;
Then I cut out tiny circles also;
And one long strip (2cm by 30cm) for the handle of the basket;
Here, my flowers are done!
Step 10;
Then I glue two flowers to the opposite sides of the basket, just where I would have the handle placed;
Then I add the handle by simply glueing each end of the long strip of paper to opposite sides of the basket before decorating with flowers;
Done! My peg basket!
