Hello friends. I have always been fascinated by postcard designs. I find that they capture the essence of things in a simple and beautiful way. So, taking advantage of the fact that it's still the beginning of the year, I decided to create a very personal kind of resolution wall, trying to imitate the postcard design that I love so much. Of course, I used a lot of symbols that remind me of what I want to achieve and having them decorating my room keeps me focused on them.
Materials
Cardstock: Choose cardstock in colours and textures that you like. You can use anything from classic white to vibrant or even metallic tones. The important thing is that they are thick enough to support the paint.
Gouache: Select the colours of gouache that best suit your style and the theme of your postcards.
Border paper (optional): If you want to give your postcards a prettier finish, you can use different types of paper (textured, patterned, etc.) to create decorative borders.
Scissors: A sharp pair of scissors will be useful to cut the cardstock and the border paper precisely.
Pencil: For drawing sketches or marking guide lines on the cardstock.
Brushes: Choose brushes of different thicknesses to paint details and backgrounds with ease.
Mural: Choose the surface where you will stick your postcards. It can be a wall, a cork panel, a large piece of cardboard, etc.
Paint the postcards: With the paintbrushes and tempera paints, paint the cards with the designs you like best. You can be inspired by postcards you have seen, your own memories or symbols that represent your purpose. Let your creativity run wild and experiment with different techniques and painting styles.
Let the paint dry: Leave the postcards in a flat, ventilated place until the paint is completely dry. This will prevent them from smudging or sticking together.
Arrange the postcards: Before gluing the postcards to the mural, place them on the chosen surface and play with the layout. You can arrange them by colour, theme or any other way you like.
Glue the postcards: Once you have decided on the layout, glue the postcards to the mural. Make sure they are well fixed to prevent them from falling off.
Now you have your personalised wall mural. Remember that this is just a step-by-step example. You can adapt the materials, techniques and designs to your own tastes and needs - the important thing is that you have fun and that the end result motivates you to achieve your goals!
