If you're a nerd who likes to invent, design and manufacture things at home as much as possible it's been the standard for years that you needed quite specialized equipment to do things like smelting metals or pouring your own cast designs.. But given we've entered the age of additive manufacturing technology with it now being affordable/economically sane for the everyday civilian given enough will to proceed to do things like melt and pour metals using household microwave oven appliances instead of a kiln / forge / gas fired stove.
The youtube channel Shake The Future has released a number of quite interesting videos regaurding home metal casting, building your own crucibles at home and some other neat stuff. Go check out his channel if this sort of thing interests you. I've shared his channel and video here to show what is possible as well as "bookmark" it to return to later. Currently I don't have the time nor finances to dabble with such metal in the microwave insanity and coding is my primary focus... but once some free time and funding is available I'll be not only going through this process myself experimenting with the possibility of home metal smelting, but also making a complete walk through blog series on here about the endeavour.
