My mistake was to buy foam rubber 1cm thick and that's why I had to make a double layer, that is, cut two similar pieces (because it was impossible to cut the same ones) and join them together to make the total union that gives shape to our galley. And although I had the measurement of the contour of the skull, it was difficult to finish assembling everything, because some people need more space on the sides, others prefer to leave their ears outside, in short, for each head there is a different taste of the galley.

Mi error fue comprar gomaespuma de 1cm de grosor y por eso tuve que hacerla de doble capa, o sea cortar dos piezas similares (porque iguales se me hizo un poco imposible) y unirlas para luego hacer la unión total que da forma a nuestra galera. Y aunque tenía la medida del contorno del cráneo, era difícil terminar de armar todo, porque algunos necesitan más espacio a los costados, otros prefieren dejar sus orejas afuera, en fin, para cada cabeza hay un gusto diferente de la galera.

Lo que hice fue cortar el alto de la galera por el ancho del contorno que ya habíamos medido, y luego, al hacer la parte circular, ya sea para el ala como para la copa, colocar allí el contorno ideal, de esta manera no hay mucho margen de error, y el mínimo se irá puliendo con el uso, ya que con el tiempo y el sudor la gomaespuma se suele aplastar un poco.
I used a contact and drying glue, so to secure this union I placed some cider cans to make weight, this way I could put more weight on the edges, and not worry so much about the inside. And at the end of all this, goes the fabric, so the important thing is the shape and the gluing, but not so much the details or being a perfectionist.

In our case, we usually make the galleys pretty sturdy so we don't need a new one every year, but for cotillion or even the kids can use a lighter one. En nuestro caso, solemos hacer las galeras bastante resistentes para no tener que necesitar uno nuevo cada año, pero para cotillón o incluso los niños pueden utilizar una más liviana. Y yo en lo personal al colocar la tela uso acetato deportivo, que es resistente a las costuras y brilla bastante, aunque este día no teníamos, y el raso fue bastante difícil de coser, me quejé varias veces y tampoco me gustó mucho el terminado pero como irá decorada, no me quedó otra que aceptar y ahora veremos el sábado como resulta el terminado con brillantes.
When I help others to make these things for their costumes I find myself with the complication that I never know how the other person really wants it to look or be comfortable, so I always choose to teach them, help them to create, and that they understand with what logic I do what I do, in this case a galley, but it is in different aspects. I always prefer to give them the option to learn, since it is something they will also be able to use in the future, although as a group it is a lot of fun to get together to help each other.

Cuando ayudo a otros a hacerse estas cosas de sus trajes me encuentro con la complicación de que nunca sé como realmente quiere el otro que le quede o sea cómoda, por eso yo siempre opto por poder enseñarles, ayudar a crear, y que entiendan con qué lógica yo hago lo que hago, en este caso una galera, pero es en distintos aspectos. Siempre prefiero darles la opción de aprender, ya que es algo que también podrán usar en el futuro, aunque como grupo es muy divertido hacer juntadas para ayudarnos mutuamente.
