Which do you easily get in your country, the powdered turmeric and ginger, or the fresh ones. If you're like me and you only have easily get the fresh ones, here in this post I'll show you how I was able to make ginger and turmeric powder by using the fresh ones.
It is very easy to make it and it makes cooking easier too when you have it all in powder form.
So to make this you only need to get the fresh ones. For me I got it from where it was planted in the village, both the turmeric amd ginger and I thought of making it into powder and storing them.
Ginger is known for aiding digestion and reducing inflammation, while turmeric is a powerhouse of antioxidants and great for boosting immunity so there good ingredients to add to your kitchen and having them in powder makes it so easy to use. So let's learn the procedure:
Procedure:
- Wash the ginger and turmeric properly
- Start to peel off the skin of the ginger and turmeric
- Next cut into tiny pieces so that it can easily dry up
After this we get something wide like a bag or tray and spreading out the tiny chunks of ginger and turmeric in a way it can easily dry up.
Next put it out in the sun to dry, depending on the heat of the sunlight it might take two to three days or more to dry, but if the sun is very hot it might take 24 hours.

As you see in the images below, when it is finally dried it looks shredded and you can easily squeeze it.
So we get them both ready to go through a blender.
So below is what we have before blending:
And this below is what I got after blending:
Ginger powder
Turmeric powder
It turned out really smooth and beautiful! Next thing is to store them in containers where we can easily access them like the one below:
It's best to store the powders in airtight containers in a cool, dry place. This will help retain their flavor and potency for months.
Fresh ginger and turmeric have many health benefits, but having them in powdered form is more convenient for cooking, teas, and skincare. Plus, making it at home ensures purity and saves costs!
An alternative to sunlight for drying the ginger and turmeric in this recipe is using an oven or a dehydrator in case you want to dry it and the temperature in your country is low.
Making these at home was a rewarding experience for me. It’s a simple process that brings so much convenience to cooking. Why not give it a try and let me know how it works for you?
Thank you, for your time here, I hope you found this valuable!
This looks really good.
I didn't know making it into powder is this simple.
