The Box- as promised

Hello everyone! As promised, this is the box that I made from that hard clay in my previous post.

I am still going through my journey of healing and reflection. I felt humbled, grateful and being healed- from all the things that I have gone through. I am glad I decided to embark on this journey as I feel that it renews my spirit.

Anyway, on to the box. I had been planning on making a trinket box. The issue is that, since I had been conditioning the clay( the ones I posted on my last blog), I am unsure of its quality as I have mixed some clay softener in. Had I mixed in a lot that it will turn into a sticky mess- incapable of retaining its shape without any support, will it be fragile/ brittle?

So I decided to make a "test" piece. I started by using my clay roller to create the pattern.

Then I used my cookie cutter to make a uniform square shape. At this point, blending the seams together is the least of my concern. I have decided to make it look like a block. With all the sides standing up from each other.

Here I am joining the pieces together.

This is the inner part of the cover. Since I want to showcase the pattern, I decided not to make any handle outside.

Post baking/ glazing look. Yes. I finished this piece because I wanted to see how it really looks. Here are the final looks. Enjoy!
