What a long journey it's been. If we never see another sheet of plywood again it'll be too soon. But, despite the hard slog, we feel pretty happy that it's finished and it's all better than expected.
First of all, these cupboards give us so much room. Unlike the last iteration, they go straight down to the floor and extend most of the way back, with a benchtop on top as we can now stand up in there. We decided against an indoor cooker and sink as you just don't need it in this country - most cooking is done outside and if the weather is bad we can always bring the spirit stove inside. We also went with hinges on the outside which makes it a LOT stronger.
The Boxio portable toilet is cleverly hidden by this door front. Although it's not hinged - we couldn't fit the hinges in that corner very well and the box was the exact size of the toilet crate - it's very secure in it's place and you wouldn't even know that it hides a toilet. We don't plan on using the toilet inside and only for emergencies. We do also have a pee bucket we can use at night and empty out under trees or in a toilet block.
The fairy lights are also in place - very important as you know.
The cushions are covered with baby cot fitted sheets - how genius is this? Means I can change them at any point for a new colour or pull them off to wash easily. I can't afford for someone to sew me cushion covers and I can't sew to save myself so I'm happy with this solution.
Jamie also put the awnings on with some great brackets made by his friend Murray.
The latches were also made by him - I love the detail.
What do you think of the sun design on the inside? As we have copper in other places as splashbacks, it fit. WE did this because the piece of wood there is actually two pieces as we didn't have a long one - I painted it and added the sun to hide the join. I think it looks super cool.
I'm so excited - we really have built our dream camper and I can't wait to go away in it for a few weeks.

It is looking so good.
The designs work for you and I understand why you didn’t fitted a stove and sink.
Great thinking of using baby cot sheets. You can change them easily for a different color or design.
Love it!
Have a fantastic weekend!
Yes, that's what I thought about the sheets! As long as I find ones that aren't very baby patterned!
Hahaha nope you don’t want that 😂
Congrats! Now it can go on its maiden voyage? But I think it has already traveled a fair share, no?
Of course, of course!
Except you misspelled or perhaps forgot to include the word "gnome"
On an unrelated note, can you do me a favor by answering this question:
I only have the computing power for one bedtime story; so what would you rather?
B. A lonely cactus growing in
a peppermint castle
There is q third option-
The evolution of some unlikely friends into a community
all while searching for somebody's... brother.
Thank you in advance

.Hey congrats! The camper's looking amazing! Seems like a very practical design (and loads of fun to take on the road, I'll bet!). :)
Ta! It's gorgeous. A tiny apartment on wheels. Sad about the hip pain. I'll just have to take painkillers and tolerate it I guess.
Dude that is an awesome camper you have made there! Okay much envy going on here haha.
And that axe just casually laying around there hahaha
Haha the axe is an important feature. Thanks .. that's four years of dreaming and hard work in that Defender!!
Your Defender Camper transformation is inspiring. The thoughtful storage design, clever details like the hidden toilet and fairy lights, and the creative touch with the sun design truly make it one-of-a-kind. Nice work.

It looks really amazing! Are you also using it in winter times or in the mountains where/when it might be cold?
I prefer winter camping. We have a diesel heater and eventually we will make an insulated lining too.
Great! And you can go everywhere by it! Are you also camping wildly?
Congratulations, it looks very nice. More luxurious than a house.
Thanks!!!
