Hello everyone! Greetings to all of you, friends of DIYHub. I hope you are feeling very well. Today I want to share a wonderful idea that, although it is simple to implement, can have a great impact on the care of our plants. Recognizing the importance of this system, I decided to make it and, of course, to share it with you. It is a homemade drip irrigation system. I invite you to join me in making this amazing craft.
Where I live, at this time, it doesn't rain for several months, until mid-June. The climate is very dry and breezy, which means that some plants constantly need water due to the dryness of the soil. Remembering that Water Day is approaching, I thought about the importance of conserving this resource and how we can do it effectively. While researching irrigation methods, I realized how crucial it is to conserve water. In some areas of the world, this resource is scarce, and various techniques have been adopted to keep plants alive and help them survive in drought-prone areas. For example, I remembered the African continent, which has been suffering from prolonged droughts and food shortages for a long time. The situation in Africa highlights the urgent need to implement efficient and sustainable irrigation methods. Water scarcity not only affects plants, but also has a direct impact on agriculture and the food security of communities. I realized that there are homemade irrigation methods that are very useful. For example, a simple plastic container, like a soda container, can serve a lot of purpose. This irrigation system is easy to do and can make a big difference in the care of our plants.
I am going to place this irrigation system on a plant that requires shade. Previously, it had a pomegranate tree planted next to it, which provided the necessary shade. However, we had to cut it down, but the pomegranate plant is growing again. In the meantime, I will use this watering system to make sure the shade plant stays alive and healthy.

(Materiales🌿:)||(Materials💧:)
- Una botella de gaseosa
- Dos palitos de madera
- Cinta adhesiva
- Tijeras
- Una tornillo
- A bottle of soda
- Two wooden sticks
- Adhesive tape
- Scissors
- One screw

Paso nro 1
Paso nro 1
I started by removing any labels or wrapping from the plastic bottle. Cutting the Bottom. I used scissors to cut the bottom of the bottle. I did it carefully to avoid cutting myself. In the end, I was left with the top part intact, creating a kind of lid.

Now I am going to place the wooden sticks to give more stability to my watering system. I choose two wooden sticks that are long enough to hold the bottle in place. I place a wooden stick on each side of the bottle. This will help keep it steady and upright. I use tape to secure the sticks to the bottle. As I wrap the tape, I pull tight on each turn to get a tight fit. I make sure the sticks are firmly attached and the bottle doesn't move.

Now I'm going to open a hole in the bottle cap so the water can slowly come out. To do this, I heat an object that has a round tip. In my case, I am using a screwdriver. I heat it up a little to make it easier to pierce the lid. Carefully, I press the hot screwdriver against the bottle cap. The hole I make has to be the size of the screw I plan to use. It is important that it is not very wide, since I want the water to come out only in the form of drops.

Lastly, I put the cap on the bottle and test to make sure the water drips out. I place the cap I made on top of the bottle. I make sure it is tight to avoid leaks. I test to see if the water comes out correctly. I notice that the flow is adequate and that the water comes out in the form of drops, which means that the system is working as expected. Once I confirm that everything is in order, I head to place the watering system on the plant I had mentioned. I put water through the lid I made, making sure the bottle is well positioned near the roots of the plant.

Implementing a homemade drip irrigation system is not only an effective way to care for your plants, but it is also a fun and rewarding project. In addition, it is a step towards the conservation of water, a vital resource that we must protect. I hope you like it, I say goodbye and I will surely share more crafts with you another time.
