Day of the Cat
One of the things I wanted to do early on in this New Year was to compile a complete calendar of official cat holidays. I'm aware of a pawful and I expected there might be one or two more... so I didn't figure that would be so difficult, but I have had quite a surprise!
As it turns out, we cats have a lot of special days dedicated to us! And if you add in the factor that there are special "cat days" in many different countries that aren't necessarily celebrated on the same day of the year in other countries, you end up with quite a collection!
Not So Simple!
At first, I thought I would just keep it simple. But as I started compiling my list, I realized that Hive is home to cats from all over the globe, so it would only be fair for me to dig around and find the different cat holidays from everywhere.
So I have basically created a very large project for myself!
But worry not! The Dad-Hooman and I have gone into serious research mode, and we are still hoping that we can have the comprehensive "Cat Calendar" put together before this coming weekend. We just had no idea it would be such a large undertaking!
Ironically, our current state of winter with a lot of frost and snow has worked in our favor because there isn't much else you can do aside from sitting inside and doing indoor things. I even managed to persuade the Dad-Hooman to not lapse into his usual pattern of doing a bunch of his so-called work, and instead help me with my project.
Thankfully, he was ready for a change of scenery so we have been working very hard on this little venture today, and will again tomorrow, as it is a public holiday.
Smudge was more interested in napping, and she thought we were just wasting our time. In her little world, every day is Caturday and thus a "special" day so why would you need to make a calendar of all those days?
I suppose she has a point there!
Still, some days celebrates different kinds of cats... so whereas they are special, they are not all created equal!

Caturday by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!
Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS!
Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community.
There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
