I'm happy to announce that I've found my favorite cat cafe. I've been to multiple cat cafes in America: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Baltimore. We were planning to go to the one in Barre, Vermont, but it was a longer drive and open only to those who want to adopt. However, Cafe Chat L'heureux gets our situation better and is a shorter drive. We can't have pets in our new place, and simply needed some cozy cuddles on a rainy day.
I found this place to be a lot more laid back than the cat cafes I've visited in America. It was certainly a place that gets plenty of traffic, since its right on Avenue Duluth; a street with many cute cafes and shops. We happened to get there early enough to get a seat on one of the cozy vintage couches. We camped out there for a little while. I ordered coffee and my daughter got lemonade. We shared a hot brownie that was covered in a maple toasted pecans and caramel. My daughter took off her rain boots and put slippers on before we walked around and played with the cats. All of the cats roam around the cafe and seem to love hanging out by the cash register. Some of them nap on available cafe chairs; others retreat to the shelves that are high up if they want to get away from everything. They all have cute names and are basically stars of the restaurant, as their large portraits are hung throughout. This was the perfect rainy day activity and we can't wait to go back!
