With changing seasons, this time to a colder one, comes health challenges especially for kids. Cough and colds are diseases common during this kind of season.
The situation especially concerns me since my kid is asthmatic and having colds and cough triggers it.
Though I cannot do anything about the weather, I can at least help my kids prevent these disease by helping them strengthen their immune system.
I do believe that fruits and vegetables can provide necessary vitamins and minerals that can boost their immune systems.
Though fruits and vegetables are readily available, the problem is how to make my kids eat them. They are picky eaters and they choose food other than fruits and vegetables.
For this reason, I come up with a drink in which I blend in fruits and vegetables. I decided to make a smoothie from mango and malunggay leaves (Moringa oleifera).
Mangoes are sweet, nutritious and my kids love them. It will make delicious drink my kids will surely love. But I cannot discount the health benefits malunggay can provide. It is said to provide 7 times more Vitamin C than oranges and 15 times more potassium than bananas . Aside from that there are more health benefits from taking in malunggay leaves. It is also readily available as it grows everywhere in the country so it is so easy to find. We have our own malunggay plant so I don't need to buy them.
These are the reasons why I want malunggay to be part of my kids diet.
So let me share with you my Mango-malunggay smoothie:
Ingredients:
1 mango fruit
Malunggay leaves (you can adjust the amount depending on your preference)
1/2 glass milk
1-2 tablespoon honey
I just placed everything in the blender. For a few seconds, I let the all the ingredients blend until the malunggay leaves are torn down into very tiny pieces.
The amount of ingredients can make a glass of mango-malunggay smoothie.
The good thing abount adding malunggay to the mix is that it doesn't have a distinct taste or smell. The reason my kids love it.

Maayu nalang matabunan ra ang lasa sa malunggay, mailad ra gihapon ang mga chikiting, medyo mapait man gud sya if i-blend na or madaghanan, kitang mga gurz ka appreciate jud ta lasa sa malunggay pero mga bata kay medyo dli pa kaayo ganahan sa lasa.
Mao jud mem. Mas maau pod ang kamuggay ug isagol sa ing ani kay di kaau distinct ag lasa ug baho.

Hi @bluepark
It's a pleasure to see you in the community. This recipe is great, and although I do not identify the plant (it would be good to have the scientific name), I think it is an ideal alternative to strengthen the respiratory system, because everything that is natural and provides vitamins to our body, helps us heal. and to have a stronger immune system.
On the other hand, it would be great to see you make your amazing drinks. If you read our rules carefully, we ask our users to appear in at least three photos making the recipes in each post.
Greetings and Happy Holidays!
Thank you for these suggestions. I'll make sure to include the scientific name in the title too. And about the photos, I guess I misunderstood. Thank you and have a great day! Happy holidays too.
It is not necessary that you include the scientific name in the title, because it would be very long, but in the text, and this applies only when you use vegetables or fruits that are difficult to identify, not for common ones.
Regarding the photos, we ask our users to see them in photos (at least three), making the amazing drinks, as it is a way to get to know them. It's a community rule.
Greetings @bluepark
This is noted. Thank you so much. Have a wonderful day!

Blessings, excellent drink as mango is a very tasty and versatile fruit. Excellent combination
Thank you. That's right, mango is really delicious and the maluggay adds more nutrients to the drink.
Looks delicious the last blender drink I had was a peach milk shake. Not quiet as healthy as yours, hehe. It's great drinking something tasty and healthy. A good treat for the kids 😊
I haven't tried peach milk shake. Not very common fruit here. That's interesting to try. Maybe I can find one this coming new year. Really need healthier food or drinks especially with the weather. Have a wonderful day!
