The Perfect Drink For The Season.

in Amazing Drinks12 days ago

Happy weekend members of this awesome community and welcome to my blog.

Today, I decided to share one of my favorite drinks for the season. Although this tasty drink can be taken at any time of the year, I just enjoy it more during this time of year when people struggle with different illnesses due to the weather.

Harmattan is here, just like many countries are experiencing winter at the moment. In Nigeria we experience cold accompanied with dryness, and this combination makes so many people sick. The common illnesses most people struggle with during this time of the year are cough, sore throat, catarrh, and a few others, which can be prevented or treated naturally.

I prefer the preventive measure, and this drink just does the magic for me, which is why I can share it confidently with people who want to give this a try as well. Preparing this drink is quite easy, and you definitely do not need lots of ingredients to make this magic.

Ingredients

  • 1½ kg of Watermelon

  • 4 pieces of ginger

Yes, just two ingredients are needed to make this drink. The ginger is the major ingredient, as it contains anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, while the watermelon is basically to spice things up, even though it has lots of nutritional value as well.

So, you can choose to replace the watermelon with oranges, pineapples, and any other fruit you like.

Let's get into the preparation.

I started by cutting the watermelon into smaller sizes that would make it easy for me to get rid of the rind (back of the watermelon).

After cutting the watermelon into smaller sizes, I started cutting out the parts I needed.

I removed them all and kept everything in a clean container.

I peeled the back of the ginger, cut them into smaller sizes, and rinsed them in clean water.

I got my blender ready and filled the cup with some of the watermelon and ginger.

While blending, I added the remaining watermelon and ginger bit by bit.

The whole blending lasted about five minutes, and the outcome was fantastic.

I got another clean container, placed a plastic sieve on it, and started pouring the blended combo into the sieve.

I did that to get rid of the shaft, which makes the drink more enjoyable.

After successfully sieving out the shaft, I moved on to serving the drink.

If it was during the hot season, I would have definitely filled my cup with ice, but since it's cold, I took the drink like that.

I enjoyed my drink as usual and will definitely drink more of this to fortify myself against the effects of the weather. Let me know what you think about this simple drink in he comment section.

I know about using ginger to stop catarrh, cough and cold but mixing it with watermelon is a new one for me. I usually mix mine with honey to lick at intervals but since you have given this recipe, I'm gonna try it out.

Honey is now expensive,so this I'll save me a lot of money too.

Thanks for sharing La Chef George 👍

Ginger is a sacred ingredient for many illnesses and I love to take it directly or indirectly. Blending it with fruit takes its effect to a whole new level because the fruits have got nutrients too.

Honey is very good and a perfect combo with ginger but it's very expensive these days.

Yeah and that's why I will try your recipe

I can't really imagine the taste of that combination but ginger is also good as sweet drinks so I I'm sure it's not that bad. And with it's health benefits, this is surely an amazing drink.

It definitely tastes great and you should give it a try especially if you are experiencing winter at your end. I bet you will love the combination, cheers.

Yummy combination! Ginger and watermelon seems like its cooling and heat so a great mix. 🍉 Trying it cold would definitely be more pleasing.

It's super cool when you take it cold but I can't now because of the weather. I am glad you love the recipe.
