Chocolate Essence

in Amazing Drinks3 days ago (edited)

When I was younger, I had this habit of saving drinks for three days. On the body of many drinks, there's a warning that says 'do not leave open for more than three days'. I took that warning personal and followed the rule religiously. Whenever I opened a drink, it was bound to last three days in the fridge before I went back to it.

Now, it's not like I did that consciously. It just sort of happened that when I can't finish a drink, I'll keep it in the fridge, waiting for when I feel like my stomach could accommodate more liquid satisfaction and then, I go ahead to forget it. Most times, I'll come back to see that one of my siblings drank it already but other times, it's there like when I left it. After that, if it has reached the three days span, I discard it's contents but if it hasn't, I'll still drink it.

If you're part of those who can churn down a full bottle of drink or more, you're sure among the lucky ones. There are some of us or to be specific, there is me who can't finish a 60cl of drink at once. I've not been the biggest fan of drinks but, when the mood calls for it, I indulge in the refreshment and satisfaction it brings. I can't remember ever having stuck permanently to one drink. My tastes have changed so much over the years, with wide variations too. From bobo milk drink (as a kid) to ribena, to fanta and to 5alive pulpy orange, then to Pepsi and now it's at something entirely different from all the above. It's not like I find anything wrong with any of the others. I'll like to believe I just grew out of one particular taste and opted for another.

The first time I discovered the drink was during one of my breaks from school. I got back home to see that my dad had stocked the fridge with bottles of this drink. It just happened that that was the drink my family was into, that period. I settled for it one particular day, with the hope that if it turned out to be something that's not to my fancy, I'll give it to someone else in the family who enjoys it. I tasted it and with the first burst of it's creamy essence in my mouth, I knew I wasn't going to give out at least that bottle and if I could, the remaining ones in the fridge. But who was I kidding? lol.

I drank my first bottle that day and when I started craving for another the next day, I knew with conviction that this drink was going to be my favourite for a while. I have no idea how I never came across this particular product since the brand has existed for a very long time but experiencing it now, is one of the beautiful things I discovered last year.

This drink I'm talking about is Viju chocolate flavour. Ever since I tasted it, I haven't been able to get over the chocolate goodness that comes with every sip. Loving this drink now is funny because I once detested the brand of this drink after a traumatizing experience. But now, here I am obsessing over one of their products. Life is full of uncertainties.

I can't say it's my favourite Christmas drink but it currently is my favourite drink. Maybe I will get over it, maybe I will not. But I will continue to enjoy it for as long as my love for it lasts.
