In this post, we will be giving you some posts curated by @brofi that caught our attention. We are not quantity but quality based humour, weird knowledge, diversity, project updates and we don't mind lengthy posts at all, however, we are looking for more than just words.
You earn the BRO curation by holding bro, the more you have, the more you get. Still, we look out for quality and not shit posts. Holding Bro doesn't guarantee you votes if you do not give quality material. Without further delay, in no particular order, here are some posts that caught our eye over the past week:
The Power and Necessity of Handwriting by @dbooster
I have a bit of an idea here. I'm sure it's one at least some of you share, likely one you share even if you don't walk the walk so to speak. You'll see what I mean by that when I get into it. I'm not quite sure if I have my idea in enough of a working order to make a coherent argument about it or not. So I'm just going to jump in and out of it and see if I can make sense of my thoughts.
I think handwriting is important. Of course, many of you know I am a fountain pen user and that I often begin these posts, sometimes writing the entire first draft of a post, longhand with my fountain pen. That in mind, I'm sure there is some bias to my beliefs here, but I think it's also fairly non-biased and based on some degree of fact and study.
The second most grown up thing I've done by @livinguktaiwan
In the past, I always thought writing a will isn't an important thing to do, especially when we were young(ish) and didn't have a lot of assets. Plus the fact we don't have any kids. Even if we did, by default everything would go to him/her/them. And we were moving around quite a bit in the past decade, it didn't make sense to write a will when things were so fluid.
Now we've finally settled down and got our affairs in order, we thought the timing was right. It was probably the second
most grown up thing we've done after buying our house. But to me, it was also a sign that I am getting nearer to one end of life than the other. Kinda sad to face up to this reality.
Italian Assisi - a town like from a film ⛪ by @szejq
Assisi is one of those places that look like a movie setting or as if I had traveled back in time a few hundred years. The old town, situated on a hill, delights with its narrow, cobbled streets that wind between stone houses. The buildings are rather connected, one after another in rows. They have warm, sandy colors, and their facades are often overgrown with vines, grass, you can find a lot of flowers in pots and beautiful shutters, as in Italy.. Above it all, the towers of the churches and the Rocca Maggiore castle dominate, from where there is a view of the green valleys of Umbria.
Why Gifu? by @stickupboys
What we do
Well many people know we make gifs....we are just about to cross half a billion views on Giphy and probably the same on tenor and this does not include shares. So when the team asked us to make some Gifu gifs it was very exciting for us. We created a whole new character as you can see. It is good fun playing with it and developing it as we are only in the early days of what is planned for Gifu.
So why Gifu?
Gifu seems to be fun but the more I am involved and look at it this seems to be a very powerful project. Not only have the Gifs given it millions of views already which is spreading the brand awareness like fire but the tokenmoics developed by the team are wild. I am going to bullet point some of these:
The Almost Forgotten Roman Emperor ! by @trumpman
This is something cool I learnt today.
Apparently, there was this Roman emperor called Silbannacus the existence of whom was totally forgotten by history records.
The only reason we know he actually existed is thanks to two coins discovered in modern times.
The first coin was discovered in the 1930s and bears the inscription IMP SILBANNACVS AVG, identifying him as an emperor. The obverse has a portrait of him and the obverse features Victory, a common symbol of military success.
The second coin was held in a private collection and its existence became known sometime in 1996. Again, it features a portrait of Silbannacus but depicts Mars on the reverse, the Roman god of war.
Remember Bob Marley by @alexvan
Today we celebrate the birthday of Bob Marley, the Jamaican reggae superstar. Sadly, he died of cancer at the age of just 31. He believed in pan-African politics, which aimed to liberate Africa from the colonial powers and unite African countries. And this despite the fact that his father was a white Englishman. Marley was brought up as a Catholic, but converted to Rastafarianism, an Abrahamic religion centred on Africa.
