What’s the first thing that comes into your mind, when you hear the word ‘diet’?
Well, most of us think that diet means eating less, even starving, or losing weight. But, actually, it’s something totally different from that; diet means having well-balanced food to maintain regular nutrition and a healthy weight. Here “well-balanced” refers to the food that comprises of different categories like carbohydrate, protein, fat, etc. When we adopt better food options for our daily palette, it significantly affects our body and mind. So, in today’s article, let’s glance through some of the basics of food habits.
Have you ever thought, why some people eat so much but never get fat? On the other hand, some people get bulky even if they just breathe!
Okay, I know the previous line was a bit exaggerated. But you can catch my point, right? It’s not about how much we eat. Rather it’s all about what we eat.
Whatever we eat is measured by a common metric called “Calorie”. For example, A boiled egg consists of 75 calories, or say a plate of Kacchi biriyani takes on a whopping number of 440 calories. So, we need to know which food options make our stomach full but take fewer calories to burn. We can easily get a calorie list of different foods we consume on the
internet. Our body needs the energy to survive. When we take enough calories according to our weight and height, we maintain our weight. If less, we lose weight and gain when vice versa.
Here are friendly dietary tips to stay healthy and fit:
Eat a lot of veggies. They come with all the various micronutrients like vitamins, minerals, and fibers. Always try to eat seasonal ones. They are cheap and easy to find.
Try to avoid clean carbs like white rice, bread, sugary drinks, pastries, etc. They are just empty calories, meaning you won’t get any nutrition from them.
Eat the morning breakfast like a king. A strong breakfast with fruits, milk, and eggs will provide you with energy for the whole day. As a result, you won’t be eating that fat-filled burger outside!
Always try to stick with homemade foods. Homemade foods are undoubtedly tasty but they don’t add extra fat, colour, and preservatives like fast-food shops.
Wait a minute, did you drink enough water today? Nothing to worry about. It has no calories at all. So, drink at least 2-3 litres of water every day and stay hydrated!
