In last week's edition, I discussed my Splinterlands journey and how I've made regular progress but in strategy and quality of cards over time. For a journey that started in February, this unexpected addiction has been both financially rewarding and draining in almost equal measure.
In the time that I've been here, I have spent more on buying than selling, but that notwithstanding, there have been some sales and burns that stood out. My first major achievement in terms of transactions was getting a gold foiled Kraken. It was quite a big deal for me and I made a lot of noise about it on Twitter. Ifeoluwa advise me to burn the card, and that's just what I did to earn 50,000 DEC. That was also the first time I actually burnt a card, so it is kind of a big deal for me.
I think it is possible to make progress in the game without investing any of your personal funds but that will require a lot of battles and lots of time. In the space of time since I started this game, I think I've invested $150 or slightly more from my personal funds and a huge chunk of that was fresh after the Yodin Zaku airdrop, which I missed.
I was so hurt by missing the airdrop, I went on a "Belemo sized" untamed pack shopping spree, picking up to 120 at a go, and then like 80 more, to get me close to 200 untamed packs bought. I ended up spending nearly $100 on untamed packs just to earn an airdrop. The airdrop came and I got only one Mimosa Nightshade but the positive is that I now had a truck load of packs to open. Inside one of those packs was the most expensive card I've scored since I started this game and she is the star of the occasion.
The Big One
This gold foiled Mimosa Nightshade was found in one of those packs I got and so we can say it was a bit of a success. The first time I got her, she was valued at around $200, but due to a current price war, her price has dropped drastically to around $78.
This legendary Summoner from the death Splinter is the crown of my jewel and represents my biggest score until today. I offered her on the market at $78 in the hopes of getting back some of the funds I invested in all those untamed packs but so far, there have been no takers.
Other than this score, I had made some smaller sales like a gold foiled Flexia general and also Chanseus that I got in the Airdrop before the latest one. I guess we could say that I've been lucky with purchases more than I've been lucky with sales.
The Latest Sale
My latest sale was this gold foiled Grim Reaper that sold for around $1.6 a while ago. This is one of the new reward cards and it was mighty lucky of me to score this baby. I invested the proceeds from the sale into untamed packs because I'm trying to increase my chance of getting the next airdropped card. I rode my luck for the last two and I don't think I'll be that lucky this time, so I must grind.
Going Forward
So for now, my biggest score in terms of DEC coming in was burning a gold foiled Kraken many moons ago but overal, my biggest score so far is the Mimosa Nightshade I mentioned earlier. She's still in the market for now.
The plan is to sell Mimosa and accumulate as much DEC as possible to buy untamed packs. It may not be a full-proof plan, but these untamed packs have played a big role in my progress and so I intend to milk the strategy. Fingers crossed and hope for the best I guess.

That Gold Nightshade is sick
No cap. I've used her in battle and she's such a bad ass. If I sell the GF, I'll reinvest the funds into upgrading the normal ones I have. I get her to Level 3 and we'll be in some serious business
I don't think I really utilised Mimosa Nightshade properly. When I found out how awesome that card is, it was taken from me

Luck always reveals itself in the most unimaginable way, my friend. You were sad after getting only 1 normal Mimosa but see what those packs got ya! I really like your writing style. Keep it going, man! 😉
