Not too long ago Chelsea announced the signing of Ben Chilwell as their latest acquisition adding to the already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner. Exciting times for the Chelsea fans as they finally get to see an announcement after it was pretty much obvious that the Blues had completed the move for the young Leicester left back. Prior to the signing of Ben, Chilwell from Leicester City, some section of the Chelsea fan base were not in agreement with the deal since reports broke out that Chelsea were interested in the services of Ben Chilwell and that he is Frank Lampard’s main left back target. It was a division of opinions from fans who were in support of the deal to happen and fans who were totally against the decision to sign Ben Chilwell as they believed that they were better and cheaper options out there. Nonetheless, those opinions mattered less as Ben Chilwell is now a Chelsea player, officially confirmed by Chelsea.
As usual when there is an official announcement for any transfer, lots of talking points are flying around concerning the signing and what we should expect from Ben Chiwell at Chelsea next season… For me, he ticks all the boxes for what Frank Lampard wants from his left back hence it isn’t a coincidence as to why Frank Lampard made him his prime target for the left back position. He is young, athletic, has pace, good in the air, cant attack and can do bits in the defensive phase and most importantly he has the energy to burst up and down the pitch which is key for the high energy attacking football Frank Lampard is trying to implement at Chelsea. So for, I think this is a great signing for Chelsea and he will definitely prove the doubters wrong come next season.
What do you think? – What should we expect from Ben Chilwell at Chelsea next season?
