Montezuma's Daughter is a work of art in the world of literature by Sir Henry Rider Haggard and it was first published in 1893. I was 14 when I first got hold of this masterpiece of a book. I went visiting my cousin who happened to be an avid book reader and that's where I first found this book in his personal library.
Montezuma's Daughter is the first-ever novel I've read in my life. The abundance amount of mixed emotions such as agony, smile, tears, and joy this book generated in my 14-year-old self was something I had never experienced before. I had no idea that a book can be that influential and leave such engraved remarks on someone. Truth be told, I was upset for over a week after I finished reading the book.
This book is about love, betrayal, revenge, luck, sacrifice, death, reunion, and painfully sweet memories. This book demonstrates how complicated, selfless, and amazing love can be. Otomie is the daughter of King Montezuma and one of the protagonists. She showed the narrator of this book Thomas that what unconditional love looks like. I was not familiar with love at that age except for the idea I got from movies and TV shows. But Montezuma's Daughter book helped me discover new forms of emotions that I would have never know existed without reading this book.
This book made me want someone in my life who would be there for me no matter what. This book gave me a new definition of love that I never knew existed. This book made me realize that love is truly worth it if I can find my Otomie. This book made me realize that true love isn't worth giving up for and that you and your partner don't need to be perfect for each other to love each other and make it work. Love isn't blind. Love just makes someone the bravest and makes them do the unbelievable, unthinkable.
I was heartbroken when Otomie died after all the struggles she had gone through with Thomas. I felt like I lost someone very close and dear to me. I could understand the pain that Thomas was going through. The worst part was when Thomas had to get back to his home country leaving the place behind where he spent years with Otomie. Goodbye hurts and it did the same and more for Thomas. Thomas got back to his hometown and ultimately got married to his childhood sweetheart. But Otomie was always there with Thomas, inside his head, floating through his consciousness. He had his childhood sweetheart beside him but it never really sufficed for the taste of love Otomie gave to Thomas. Otomie loved Thomas with her life and Thomas loved Otomie until the end of his life.

I haven't read Montezuma's Daughter but after reading your experience I am eager to give it a try.
You should. Let me know how your experience was after you read it
Books can be so moving sometimes. And Rider Haggard is an amazing writer. I haven’t read Montezuma’s Daughter, but it seems like a compelling read. You could check out She, another of his books. You might enjoy it.
You should definitely read this one. Worth it.
I’ll try. Thanks.
Thanks

The way books have the ability to place you at the scene is absolutely mind blowing. This is what I enjoy the most about books. Reading your review has made me know what to look for when I finally pick it up.
Saying goodbye is very painful. Worst part is if you won't see the person again in life.
