Introduction

"If the sky could dream, it would dream of dragons." – Ilona Andrews, Fate's Edge
────────────◈◉◈────────────Splinterlands has been a big part of my online experience with so many memorable battles that keep me coming back. With the upcoming new year, let's look back to what happened in the past. Let me share some memorable battles and my future commitments to this game.
Honestly, I did not imagine that I would play this game for more than a year. My initial month was heartbreaking but as every start, you just pave through until you see the light in the tunnel. I really like how they kept updating the game and they kept adding new contents in it regularly every year. Each set of cards are different than the last and new abilities works well with previous ones creating really good synergy.
There are still promised contents that the devs hadn't done like the items, equipments and consumable potions that you can use in-game. Even if I think about it now, I can't imagine how this game would shape up in 5 years. Everything is good up to this point and even better when compared to its previous years.

What was your most memorable battle from the last year? Was it a close call or a dominating victory?
The most memorable battle for me was when I used Nidhoggr as my summoner. This happened less than a month ago and it stood out because of how strong Nidhoggr was. The summoner gave my units two sets of abilities to choose from, either Blast and Deathblow or 2 Speed and Execute, making every battle feel like an easy win. The set with Blast and Deathblow brought back memories of playing Wild Format. It reminded me of Yodin Zaku, which gave all units Blast and I was hooked on how easy those battles became. Using Nidhoggr, every match felt like a dominating victory and it cemented the summoner as one of my all-time favorites. The only downside to using Nidhoggr is because it's so expensive, it's hard to regularly rent it every battle unless I am willing to spend about $1 for it and its combos. While $1 isn't big to some, it's equivalent to my lunch expenses so I tend to be very frugal when renting this great summoner. |

What strategies or card combinations worked well for you?
As I mentioned earlier, Nidhoggr works well with almost any unit. However, one of the best combinations is pairing Nidhoggr with Rage. Rage brings Weapons Training into the battle, giving two of your other units 3 magic attack which is perfect to complete the trio needed for Blast and Deathblow. This strategy allows the team to deal massive damage while being versatile enough to handle most rule sets. Nidhoggr enhances the overall synergy by adding those Blast and Deathblow which usually gives me an insane advantage and Rage ensures your team can break through defenses quickly with his high health, high damage, Void and Life Leech. Together, these combinations make for a strong and reliable setup in battles. Rage costs quite a bit of mana and is also expensive to rent. By now, I think you knew that the other reason why this combo and this summoner is very memorable is because of how much I spent just for renting them and their units for a few days. |

What are your goals for the new year? Are you looking to improve your gameplay, expand your card collection, or connect with other players?
My main goal is to improve my gameplay while dedicating more focus to Splinterlands after settling personal matters. By February next year, I aim to clear up most of my debts which will free up funds for my Splinterlands account. One of my priorities is to invest in a plot or two of Land, a feature I find interesting in the game and wanted to try for a long time. Owning Land opens up new opportunities for me to use cards that are no longer usable in Modern Format. Instead of selling these cards or renting them out, I can put them to use on Land and generate more value from them. This will allow me to maximize my collection while exploring a different aspect of Splinterlands. This also serves like a recycling plant for my cards. Once they cannot be used for Modern Ranked Format, I'll have them work and develop the plot of Land that I bought creating a new ecosystem within the ecosystem on my account. |

How do you plan to achieve your goals? Will you be focusing on specific card combinations, practicing new strategies, or participating in tournaments?
To achieve my goals, I plan to create more blogs and consistent content while sticking to a regular game schedule. As much as I don't want to admit it, creating Splinterlands content is currently more profitable than playing the game. The reason is that for your game to be profitable and stand on its own, it requires a lot of resources invested like owning cards instead of renting, having high SPS for the rewards, having max level cards to be competitive on higher league and many more factors. This limits me a lot and that's why my focus is to create higher quality and quantity of blogs as I slowly check out these factors one by one. |

Final Thoughts
Splinterlands has a way of making every battle feel like a unique experience, especially with strong summoners like Nidhoggr. Whether it is recreating the chaos of Wild Format or trying out new strategies with Rage, the game keeps evolving keeping everyone, including me hooked and I am excited to see where it goes next. Each match offers a chance to learn and refine approaches, making even the most casual gameplay meaningful.
As I look ahead, I plan to dedicate more time and effort to Splinterlands while balancing personal commitments. Expanding my collection and exploring Land mechanics are exciting steps that will bring new opportunities to use my cards. This makes the game feel fresh and rewarding and avoid wasting resources as it offers more than just battles.
Lastly, I hope everyone had a fun year as we all ride this bull towards the start of the next year.
