100% AT WORK...

in BDCommunity3 years ago

Today we celebrate Tunde Onakoya, the man behind Chess In Slums Africa. I am fortunate to know a friend who worked with Tunde during the early stages of the project. He was one of the first people Tunde consulted before he started the Chess In Slums project. They both taught chess at that time and have both found success and fulfillment in chess.

I do not know Tunde personally but I am inspired by his story. It is one of passion and commitment, and that is often the right mix to getting fortunate in life.

I am probably the most inconsistent person I know. I never stick to anything long enough for it to become something tangible. I remember being a chess enthusiast like my friend I mentioned earlier. We used to play chess all day long, but he stuck with it long enough to build a career from it.

The only thing I have stuck to my entire life is writing. My friend joked about this recently and I couldn't help but agree. When I posted my first blog in 2010 I knew I wanted to do this for the rest of my life--write and share a piece of myself with the world.

I wasn't good at writing (I still don't think I am) but I wanted to do this regardless without knowing what the outcome would be. I never thought blogging would put food on my table but I discovered hive during my journey and the rest is history.

Probably if I did not find hive I would be a freelancer or a published author, I can't really say for sure but I know I would be creating content because it is the only thing I love doing and I do it effortlessly.

The point I want to make here today is that when you want something, no matter how surreal it might seem, the universe has a way of bringing it to fruition. This is the story of my life and that of many people (like Tunde and my friend).

I deem my life a success because despite my woes, flaws, mistakes and disappointment. Those who have followed my journey from the beginning can attest to how far I have come despite the odds stacked against me and you don't get here without knowing what you want and wanting it enough to chase it with both hands.

I won the battle of my life and that's the only victory that matters.

Find your passion today. Don't think about the money or be swayed by the hurdles you need to pass to get to your goal. Just see it through to the end. Oftentimes, if your mind and heart are in the right place, you tend to bring your dreams to fruition.

The first step to succeed is discovering your passion and following it up consistently inorder to achieve your set goals.

I am glad you discovered writing as your passion and today it's been bringing food to your table, all thanks to Hive!

#ping contest.This is my entry @comet.ranker operation

Thank you very much. It's a privilege doing what you love and finding success. I hope everyone here discovers their passion and pursue it.

Come off it ! You are good at writing. Its one thing to find what one has passion for, it’s another thing for one to be 100% diligent at it. The ball is always in our court..

Lol! I want to believe that too

True that... Talent without work is useless

I know Tunde as well & was pretty much aware when the CIS movement began & to see how much he has achieved over the years goes to show why consistency is one of the greatest ingredients for success.
Despite how unclear the road seem one just has to keep pushing!

Yeah, he has done remarkably well for himself. As you said, the road wasn't so clear at first but he stuck with his drama long enough to see it materialize. That's the story of champions

Yeah tunde is doing great and am glad he is getting support. He is my friend, I've known him since 2014 or so. He use to train me on "2go" lol.

Like you said Passion , it is everything, when you find what you love, you keep doing it. Life is so beautiful and sweet when you make a living from your passion.

Thanks for sharing...

That's nice to hear. The chess community here is quite small. Everyone knows everybody

Passion got me this far and I am grateful for that. You are not doing bad yourself. I see your passion and it's going to take you far, even further than most of us here. Cheers!

Passion plays a big role in giving us the drive and push we need when pursuing something.
Talking about inconsistency, I can actually relate with that.
I’ve always love to create content even before I learnt about what a digital content creator is. Wrote book reviews, articles, did the role of a social media manager and over them (last year), I discovered I’m more interested in creating social media content (single post, reel, carousel), than writing long ass articles 👀.

Well, I say do whatever works for you. We will find fulfilment and success doing what we genuinely care about. No need to force it.
