Education is one aspects of the society that is very vital for its continuation.
A society with educated citizens have future and is liberated at the same time. The one who refuses to educate its people is on the verge of collapsing.
If a society is being ruled by terrorist or autocratic leader, it means the people have been denied their power of liberation which education brings.
No doubt, this education has its own downsides. Its disadvantages are enormous no doubt but they can't be compared to its advantages.
With this in mind, you will agree with me that education has done man more good than harm.
Today's society prioritise education above skills. Many parents believe it is the only legacy they can give their children.
They go about hustling to send their children to school, some borrow to pay their school fees, some even sell their properties to pay tuition fees.
With all this being done, little or nothing often come out of it. By that, i mean in terms of employability and not the knowledge gained.
The knowledge are priceless, no doubt. The monetary aspect is lacking and far from being a motivating factor to encourage people to go to school.
Today, unemployment is on the rise. To add to that, many of those who were employed are now jobless as a result of the pandemic out there.
If brings the question of whether education has anything to do with wealth or it is just for knowledge sake.
You are probably thinking, what is the importance of knowledge if it does not translate to money.
Unlike the ancient era in Nigeria where education is priceless, such that when you leave the university, you get automatic job and car.
Today, you get nothing. In fact, your education is for your own profit or loss. The government care less about what you become after school.
This brings me to the question on the importance of education if it doesn't create wealth?
Yea, they say education should open our eyes to opportunities but nobody talks about the importance of conducive environment with electricity and other amenities to properly do business.
So i put it to you, do you think education is still relevant today or it should be treated as side hustle just to improve our thinking and the way we reason to function in a civilized society while skills is promoted and given more attention.
