What do you think when you look into the sky?
Take a moment, and go look again. Better yet, go to the balcony or the roof. It doesn't matter if it's the daytime and some unsuspecting looking birds are blocking your view or it's the nighttime and the darkness is all you can see with no blinking stars on sight. What thoughts appear in your mind immediately?
Nothing is coming to mind, at least not in the first few minutes. You just stare at the sky and your mind takes a break from all the chaos that is everywhere around you and within you. Almost as if even your mind knows when you have had enough and it wants to take a break. Feeling that empty feeling on your otherwise chaotic mind and the echoing voices that threaten your peace at all times, it's a change and a necessary one.
As old as I am, I haven't had that many chances to stare at the sky but every time I stared into the space I have always found that my chaotic mind just goes silent. We don't seek out or crave silence; given the time and the year we live in - noise is the new black. And the minimum amount of time we find for ourselves in a day, we don't spare a glance at the sky for more than a moment.
My city life isn't really helpful for such proclivities as the city has proven to be less helpful in such matters. There will always be cars making honking noises, the daytime sky too sunny to look at and the nighttime sky is a shade of light orange and red that makes you feel it's always sunset; not too appealing if you ask me. But then again, I'm too much of a city person to completely uproot myself and get settled in a quiet village or somewhere near a forest - if provided with the necessary technology, I'd give it a shot. Even then I need my mind to just shut up.
When I found myself sounded by trees where new leaves growing in branches, I took a leap and laid myself on the dry land and look up - my mind took an immediate vacation. No thoughts came rushing to my mind and the ones that were circling just silenced themselves. Sure I have looked upon the sky plenty of times through balcony and rooftop but my eyes always wandered. Never before did I take the opportunity to just catch sight of what's in front of me without letting my mind and eyes wander and boy, whilst the view was obstructed, it was a sight to behold.
What is the significance of small things in life? The more pressing question is if small things are given such importance, can they be considered as small? So many unanswered questions but the truth remains, that things, however small they are, have significance. A good cup of coffee at the right moment, a good laugh over silly matters, a cool breeze that manages to put you at ease, lastly, a glimpse of the sky that put you in a state of calm.
And oh, there are only so many small things to enjoy in life.
Ahh that was a memorable moment wasn’t it Medusa? That day, we will remember it for a long long time. A day filled of small little things, with the side of a very good company :)
Hopefully we'll get to make many more of those memories together and very soon
We are your trees:)
Please don't remind me of trees and donkey 😂😂
come to think of it, the things that make us sad are often piled up big and yet happiness comes in small doses
Thank you
