It is new year already, the 2025 in a bit statement is here already and the first day is almost over, this year is too early to decided things to fulfill this year but already jotting down things I will love to tick out of the list I will be making and when it come to splinterlands, I will be making sure I max out some of my most use cards and also get some summoners that I'm yet to get, like they use to say, continuous dropping of water will surely make an ocean, the joy of a splinterland player is to have a top maxed deck even if not all but getting his most use cards maxed out, would have love to focus more on sps stake but since we can rent that for now without high increase in renting fee, then we are still good to go.
I had a couple of battle today but never for once was I expecting this particular summoner named Nidhoggr which is one of the highest summoner when it comes to mana capped plus it is a legendary dragon summoner which means it can be paired with any element, even though the mana cap make it less encouraging to use in battle, the abilities attached to this card make it somehow enticing to use in battle. The Force Reduction stat which reduce your card position by 1 irrespective of the given ruleset also make it discouraging but when it come to tactic setup, this card is perfect for a game of speed if you have to tactically pick +2 speed and execute ability which deal extra damage to any target with 2 or lower health after receiving damage and you get to give this ability to 3 of your ally cards. So incase a player decided to go all in with game of speed strategy and decided to pair his setup with Nidhoggr, using extra speed and execute will be the best option and also in some cases blast and deathblow can be useful at times.
I had this battle today but I wasn't expecting my opponent to come in with top cards which can test one's patience or give way to that fear of losing the battle before losing it, we had 57 mana capped then 3 ruleset, Armored up which give all cards +2 armour then we had Briar Patch which give all cards the thorn ability which means we have to give it a second thought before we decided to use any melee cards and lastly was the Holy protection which give out the divine shield that take in the first damage on a card. With this ruleset, I know this is a battle with more magic or range card and less melee cards, the mana cap is enough and we can pick any element except fire or death.

I just had to know which strategy i wish to use first, so I went in with the More Magic card strategy, I picked Diemonshark in the first position to withstand the first damage then place 1 mana Halfling Refugee next to it before goin in with all my magic cards, Djinn Oshannus to take the first line then Nerissa Tridawn with 4 strength to solidify my attack and damage more, I picked Night Reaper because of the wing breaker ability and also the extra damage done to flying cards and lastly was Chaos Dragon with the side effect blast ability, even though I wasn't expecting his setup, I came prepared.
He showed up with top mana cards even after the summoner. I was happy his Agor longtail had no healing ability because it would make it stay longer in battle plus he came in with extra tank healer then made it plus 1 with rage which can weapon train his non attacking cards and make them dangerous and useful.
During the battle, he came in with the speed ability but somehow his not too strong set up weaken his sport, we both destroy our melee cards but when it come to magic against magic, that was where the real battle started but my magic cards were way stronger than his own and that gave me the chance against him, I was able to defeat him free and fair while some of my cards were still for battle.
Really facing Nidhoggr in this kind of rare battle and still defeating it, is a battle to really to always remember, what do you see to this
