I am always excited for Chinese New Year and my CNY preps can start as early as 2 to 3 months prior to the festival!
I always take time to plan and also spread out our spendings when CNY is coming as it involves buying of new clothes, tit-bits and giftings as well.
It is the season when family and friends would gather. This year unfortunately I am not making my way back to my own hometown though all of my siblings are. It does make me feel a bit sad but I am also very much overwhelmed by the mental load of flying with a baby, and packing for 3 children and 2 adults so yeah, I think perhaps I may not be ready for it to spend half a day traveling back to Sarawak, all in all with a baby in tow.
So we are staying put in KL to celebrate within our small family.
Nevertheless, I did not let that stop myself from decorating the house, spring cleaning and still add some festive mood to the family.
Even that has to be spread out to be done as I am now always occupied by a baby who would want to stick with me like a sticker. She is adorable and she wants our attention all the time, which is normal for a baby her age.
I also caught flu for a few days from dusting and cleaning. I managed to declutter 3 big bags of clothes to be recycled and donated out and clean some areas in the house. Then I had to rest for days before the next cleaning spree.
But I am happy doing gifting and finding small little things to decorate the house. I just use back most of the items from the past years.
This is our BIG "fu" 福word which sits among many other smaller things near it.
Hahaha Big Blessings Coming Our Way!
Then I found some nice baskets to gift to a friend and also my mother-in-law. Love pretty and beautiful gift curations like this!
Inspired by that basket, I went to assemble one for my friend too.
I got some non woven red bags for gifts to the relatives.
I sometimes choose ready CNY gifts like this to ease my thinking too and they are already looking so nice by themselves.
Here are some of my little decorations of the house to have red in different corners.
Two very affordable foldable lanterns outside my house door as well.
My mats and hand towels also take after the CNY mood!
Even my tissue is in the CNY theme!
I received these super cute red packets when I patronised a pharmacy, as you can see there are Care Bears on them!! My boys were so excited to see Tender Heart on one of them as they do have a Tender Heart at home!
I have also prepared red packets for relatives and church friends. They symbolize good blessings to be distributed and given.
