Hi, dear Creators and Feel Good Community!!!
Once again participating for the 👉Phonography / Phone Photography Contest - 10 👈 check this link if you want to join❤️
This time i want to share with you some pics and a short video of one of my creative moments making a handmade Sketchbook... This is the second one i do. I had an old drawing pad so i decide to recycle it and turn it into a small horizontal sketchbook for my personal purposes, bookbinding is something new for me and sometimes was frustrating the process but in the end was a really satisfying moment.
Traditional Binding
Traditional bookbinding is something that amazes me, how something so ordinary can immerse you in a meditative and relaxing state. I have been watching many tutorials, learning the different types of sewing, binding forms, etc...to be able to put it into practice with the materials i had at home.
I had to look for the materials to make a diary type binding so i recycled some cardboard that i mistakenly cut wrong in my first attempt of my previous sketchbook
I only needed some thick cardboard from old boxes, fabric cuttings, white glue, cutter, needle, the paper of my old drawing pad, sewing thread and wax, for the last details a bit of felt and black cardboard for the internal finish of the covers and the elastic band to close the sketchbook.
For the binding i chose French sewing as it was the easiest for the materials i had at home.
RESULTS + Short video process
My hardest part was lining the covers with the fabric and gluing the black cardboard but I loved how it turned out. The leaves were perfectly sewn, better than the previous one. I was satisfied and wanted to make another one but with a different format and maybe explore another type of stitching.
And i think this is all for now ☺️ Thanks for this space, glad to share mi pics with you!
Thanks for visiting and supporting my little artistic corner, See you later! ;)
