Why Did I Make Gallery-Worthy Art For An App I Rarely Use?

in Feel Good3 years ago (edited)

I did not expect to create beautiful art for an app I rarely use.

But here I am, entering another contest I was invited to, lol. And what can I say, it's fun, and I do love Ecency.

Plus, I've written about Hive's love of contests before, especially those held by @rutablockchain , @holos-lotus , and @ocd .

And it may seem a bit strange for me to be entering this one, since I'm mainly a PeakD user, and the contest is 'artwork for Ecency.'

So why am I entering?

  1. Because I do use Ecency from time to time, especially when I'm not near my laptop and forced to go 'mobile.'

  2. sung the praises of Ecency's founder,UX/UI as I did for PeakD, and perhaps this contest will inspire me towards that...?)Because @dandays has @good-karma , and I trust Dan's opinion. (He also wanted me to redesign Ecency's

  3. suggested I join,Because @cynshineonline and I aim to say yes to, and support, anything she does if I'm able. (Plus, the contest-runner @melinda010100 also said she'd like to see an entry from me :D)

  4. Because it takes insane amounts of work, creativity, effort, code, bug-testing, updating, and so on to create an app like Ecency, and everyone involved has done an amazing job, and deserve some love.

  5. Plus, the Ecency encouragement program keeps engaging with my posts even though I usually use PeakD. That's class.

So here's my entry for #artecency , I hope you enjoy.

If you'd like to download the 1920x1080 original you can do so at this dropbox link. (I've also created a similar wallpaper with the Hive logo.)

Now, although it's rather minimalist and simple compared to what I usually do...

Quite a bit of thought went into this piece.

Here's a few nuances to note:

A. The tagline, "it's good karma", is a reference to Ecency's founder, as well as the vibe of the Ecency community.

B. The subtle words embedded in the piece are taken from ecency-user's posts, good-karma's presentation on it, and other various ecency related sources.

C. The colors are Ecency's 'brand colors.'

Other things to note:

The 'paint blobs' and tao symbol are from Envato.com, my favorite and most-used stock site, but heavily edited and manipulated in Photoshop, and I used the font 'Montserrat' instead of Ecency's 'Sansational' because it just looks similar but better, imho.

Also, I looked at all the other art submissions from the first #artecency contest, as well as current submissions to the second, and although they were all creative, inspiring, and wonderful, I believe what I've created is a 'cut above.'

(OK, I'm not that humble, but humility is overrated, and we need more people creating 'the best', and owning it proudly when they do.)

Anyway, there you have it.

My Ecency art, made with good karma in heart, to bring us together, and not apart.

Speaking of which, I'll tag a few artists who might be interested @danielvehe , @trippymane , and @charsdesign .

OK, that's all from me for now, but if anyone has any questions or ideas for posts, I've taken prompts before (like I made a couple posts from @ybanezkim26 's ideas) and would be happy to consider posting about anything you'd like.

Either way, thanks so much for reading, commenting, sharing, and even skimming, I appreciate you all and wish you an amazing day!

Much love,
-J

This is quite marvelous! Ecency definitely is Good Karma for all of us who use it! The app is amazing, and so is the website Ecency.com.
Thanks for creating this for the contest! 💙

Thank you so much for saying so, @melinda010100 ! I totally agree with you on both counts. My pleasure to participate in your contest! 🙏

That looks great :) I did mine, just need to make a post for it! Best of luck to you and all others who are entering :)

Thanks! And I'm psyched to check yours out! #KeepRyzing 🙏

It's posted, I look forward to your feedback :) Also you might be interested in the post I made a few minutes ago

On it :) 🙏

It is an excellent concept, beautiful colors and messages, although the text is a little difficult to read. It is a good symbol of yin, yang, opposites harmonizing at a point of balance. Success in the contest ✨

Yay, glad you liked the concept! The text is meant to be subtle, something for interested viewers to dig deeper into, while others can simply appreciate it from afar. :) Thanks for the kind wishes, sending you lots of good vibes! 🙏

Thanks so much, I appreciate you suggesting I participate. :) 🙏

❤️❤️❤️

Excellent design sir. No secret this dude's an Ecency advocate. I don't care if you spLeL my name wrong or anything.

👊🏼

Thank you!

And yeah, I like your enthusiasm for the app and dev, it factored into me joining this contest.

And omfg, huge apologies dude, typo corrected. 🙏

Dude you didn't have to do that.

While I'm here, I'd like to mention @good-karma has record response time on discord as well regardless how minor or major the issue is which is an availability feature that isn't praised enough.

Dear Jay: How many times you gonna make me ask you to dissect the shit outta Ecency? =0

(grin) It was the right thing to do, I was raise to own and correct my mistakes as much as possible. :)

Yeah, I get 'good vibes' from 'good-karma', lol.

And, haha, between your comments, and being invited to this art contest, I'm heavily leaning towards doing so.

This may happen, stay tuned. :) 🙏

Looks like you can't get rid of me yet.

Yap yap yap yap.. kidding.

No, really. That comment section you linked about being humble. Man it wasn't until 7 or 8 years ago a homeboy I've known my whole life sat me down serious like talking about charisma is a word. Even read the definition to me. We were chillin on the back patio watching trains go by. I've been reflecting ever since. To this day I practice reeling it in.

I have to watch my wording. And be clear. 10-20 years ago I didn't recognize these things. Recognize/appreciate.. you decide.

In my life it's been normal to hear someone, Pura for example, ask me "they want your advice over their own wife?" Common things like when it comes to purchasing a vehicle. Even a home one time, and that was before I recognized it.

I've since practiced drawing their own response out of their own mouth rather than me saying Subaru for example I say whatever you decide is the right decision.

Good call linking that comment section.

I wouldn't want to, lol, you tend to have well-thought-out, insightful comments, they're appreciated.

Charisma, confidence, self-esteem, self-belief... all related topics are pretty key in life, imho. And sure, balance them with occasional humility or w/e if so desired, but from what I've seen most people are waaaay too timid and humble about things they definitely shouldn't be, and vice-versa.

Some people need to 'reel theirs in,' others need to 'turn theirs up,' and it's up to each of us to figure out the sweet spot for ourselves, im(h)o. Sounds like you've done a good job doing that in your life, I definitely respect it.

Drawing out others' own response is a great way to approach things, as well as a fantastic teaching method, and one I employ often. It really is whatever people decide is right for them. I second this.

Anyway, glad you liked my lil comment link there, and I guess ultimately, what we should all take from this discussion is ...

Buy Subaru.

Clearly.

lol. :) 🤣🙏

Wow! I'm honored! My father is from Bangalore, so he'd really appreciate this too. Thank you! 🙏

Quite simply, I love it! ...for all the reasons that you provided lol And yes, you should be very proud of what you have created. People kept telling me to put myself out there and I finally did and joined the Hive and it has been nothing but a wonderful journey so far. So yes, shout this one from the rooftops. You've done good Jay :-) I hope you do well in the contest and am holding thumbs for you :-)

Ah, thanks so much @samsmith1971 ! I truly appreciate kind words and comments like yours here. Thanks for the encouragement to shout from the rooftops, and I'm glad you're putting yourself out there as well, you've definitely made a splash since day one, from what I can see. #KeepRyzing ! 🙏

First, nice work. Love it!

Second, like you, I am primarily a PeakD guy on the laptop, but all Ecency, all the time on the phone.

So hats off to @good-karma and team! During the last few monthss I have really been disgusted with some of the apps and responsiveness of support on the blockchain, but Ecency and PeakD are awesome.

The only thing that I have with regard to Ecency, which is no biggie, so I haven't reported it (I think it is just me and my stupid old phone) is for some reason you can't open any hyperlinks in posts, not sure why. I have an iPhone 6S.

What a damn fine Friday! I am loving it!

Was this issue on Ecency.com or Ecency mobile app?

Sorry for the lack of clarity. It was the mobile app I am having issues opening hyperlinks in posts.

Thank you good sir, I poured a lot of love into it, and glad to know we have a similar M.O. regarding Hive Frontends. Yes, definitely hats off to both @good-karma and @jarvie for their respective creations. Brilliant value.

Hmmm. Interesting. Sounds like there may be a phone upgrade in your future? :) Woooo! Go Friday! 🙏

Sounds like there may be a phone upgrade in your future?

Eventually, I am waiting until an end-of-support date is announced, if not already. Then I am probably going to the other side and to an android OS and try that.

Although I've huge respect for Apple, I highly prefer Android to it, I'd say you're in for a treat. 🙏 Psyched for ya!

Cool wallpaper art, good karma :)

Hahah, thanks so much! Good karma indeed! 🙏

Anyway this is the best platform i found

I'm glad you found it! 😁🙏

This is simply beautiful and simple.

I like the splash of colours

Thank you so much, I poured a lot of love into it, and am glad you like it! 🙏

Hi @ryzeonline! Dude, you put me in trouble with this commitment 😂, I will try to find time to participate. Excellent piece of good karma with the symbol of yin and yang! 👍

Hi @charsdesign ! Haha, all good, no pressure, join the contest only if it suits you. :) And I'm glad you liked my piece with the yin-yang symbol. :) 🙏

Big up! I like the art you came up with! 😎💯

Thanks for tagging me!

Maybe now that you did this you'll start using ecency a bit more ahah

I wanted to drop a graffiti and had a great idea in mind but unfortunately I didn't have any time recently!

Thanks man, I did my best and I feel it turned out nicely. And yes, I feel slightly more inspired to use Ecency now, lol. And all good, I'm sure there'll be more contest in the future if you're interested (including one's you host, lol). #KeepRyzing ! 🙏

Looks very cool idea what you did 😎👌👌

Thanks so much! 🙏

Love the soft sights of the logo , great artistic view

Thanks so much miss! Sending you Guinness-chocolate vibes! 🙏
