About this time of the year is pumpkin season here. Where is here... well, in California. And just about anywhere where pumpkins are abundant.

It is so plentiful that people place them in door steps!

And do you know where pumpkins come from?

They come from pumpkin patches.

When pumpkins are big enough...

... they start having small pumpkins!

Funniest thing is the Americans and Canadians living here in Northern Thailand obsessing about pumpkins. We have them all year round here, stupidly cheap but much smaller and used for all sorts of things. The Thai people are quite bewildered about the sudden pumpkin "thing" each October. Suddenly I feel for a spicy red pumpkin Thai curry tonight!

Actually, it is an Irish tradition.
Irish or French, does it matter?
I remember in a cooking class (my Dad and Mom insisted that I attend a cooking class),
we cooked and tasted several types of pumpkins.
But I haven't tired spicey red pumpkin Thai curry!

You can make all sorts of dishes...
Pumpkin Soup, Lighter Pumpkin Bread, Pumpkin Spice Swiss Roll, and Pumpkin Bread Ring With Maple Cream Cheese Filling are my favorites. Of course, Fresh Pumpkin Pie!

WHat a cool and fun post, I have seen pumpkins and halloween displays on houses around here and have meant to go and get shot sof them but just havent got to it yet, maybe tomorrow if this weather finally breaks, if not will be to late with halloween this weekend lOL

Many of the house decorations around here has been blown or toppled over by the strong winds!

LOL @silversaver888! I didn't realize the bigger ones birthed the smaller ones!

I can remember a long ago Halloween back east; we used to deck the house out with all kinds of Halloween decorations; played the Haunted House LP on the stereo and stuck the speaker in the window! I would dress up as a witch and pass out the candy, and one Halloween in particular, I had 15 pumpkins I carved with 15 different faces! It was quite the show! Often, little kids were afraid to come to the house because of the realistic haunted house effect! We had fun.

It was very fun to do, but alas, we moved to areas that were rural and too far apart for trick or treating. Now, we still have the distance issues, but until this year, there were no kids on the road either. We only have a few kids that moved in over the summer, and I'm not sure what their plans are. Given this road has been without trick or treaters combined with the ruralness of the area, it's unlikely anyone would prepare.
