When I was on my afternoon walk yesterday, I came across this car, near a very well-known garage here in Havana, because its owners have a great reputation. All those who need some kind of repair and get lost looking for the address in my neighbourhood, ask for the ‘Taller de los Titos’. And I think that those who race their cars there in the early hours of the morning on the highway to Pinar del Río are the first ones to recommend it highly... I'm just guessing, don't take my word for it.
And you may wonder how I know about the races... because I hear them here in my room, in the wee hours of the morning, those engines roaring.
But that's not what this post is about, it's about the fact that I've never even been down that block in my neighbourhood. I didn't even know that street existed... in fact, every time people asked me about that garage, I told them to go straight to the end and ask there. I just don't have a car... it's not something I'm interested in now.
Maybe this car will leave here as a new package, who knows?

However, seeing this car brought back a memory. I recorded the trip aboard one of these relics that roll around in my Havana. They are used as taxis to cover specific stretches, but the drivers also work for agencies or on their own to make so-called ‘carreras’. This means that after prior arrangement they pick you up at the door of your house or wherever you tell them to pick you up and take you to the place where you need to go.

I hope you enjoy my company aboard an Almendrón.
Our driver's name is... 😁 Let's see who says it first? ;)

Although I don't know anything about cars... seeing the relics is what I like! What a great trip, yes! It's great! It will be repaired and it will be as good as new!
Since I got a bike, I rarely take taxis, but it's true that I can't get everywhere by bike. This car was very well maintained. The driver obviously takes his job very seriously. He gives rides within the city and also to other provinces outside of it. By the way, he charges quite a lot.
Gracias, @avdesing.
Cobra..... much? How much?

Hi @nanixxx, I'm a little late, but I'm here. I don't know how I missed this post. Looking at these pictures, I think that if one day I go there I would like to ride in one of these cars. I imagine myself watching the cityscape slowly through those big windows (not as slowly as in the last video).
I think the image quality of the videos is very good.
Thanks for this interesting trip. A hug @nanixxx.
Well... yesterday I told you I'd post it... 🙂 but either way you're not too late for this Almendrón ride. The last video hahaha... we are standing at the traffic lights.
Thank you. I am delighted to receive your feedback.
A hug back.
I know you told me about the video yesterday..., but my head, there are days when I don't know where it's at. 🙃
Gracias; Abrazo!!
😅 Oh, but how are you going to walk around without your head? Nah, broma.
I understand that there are difficult days.
Have you seen it around? 😁
😜
😊
Very nice post about your ride in that “almendrón” (Why did they call them that? Are they all red?). Beyond the expiration that the Revolution has brought with it, those vehicles are very attractive, you have managed to keep them in very good condition. By the way, the driver's name is Rigoberto Márquez (as you can read on the carnet). Best regards, dear @nanixxx.

Gracias, amigo.
