Welcome to the next in an ongoing series of writing prompts in the Worldbuilding community !
I'm aiming to post one of these each Sunday. They aren't a replacement for the excellent daily prompts from @worldbuilding they're just an extra opportunity if you have a writing itch you want to scratch. 😀

The prompt this week is - Landfall
Humanity has always been a pioneer. From the very first clan to cross from Africa to Yemen and begin the expansion of humanity across the world, people have moved and expanded to find new resources that allow their family, tribe, or nation to grow and prosper.
Think of the excitement felt by Leif Eriksson and Columbus when they first set foot in the Americas. Never mind that there were people there already, they were the first to discover the New World for European civilisation. Or think of the adventure of being the first tribe to cross the land bridge across the Bering Straights (and possibly discovering the Polynesians got there first, but it doesn't count if you can massacre them all before the Europeans arrive). But we won't have that problem when we land on a totally new world around another star. Any pre-existing natives will definitely not be human, so we can exterminate them with a clear conscience. Won't that be exciting !
Tell me an adventure of landfall from your setting ! Do brave explorers set off to find out what's in that bit of map just over the horizon marked "here be dragons" ? Are they space-farers landing on a new world to set up a colony ? Is it a group exiled from their homeland for some reason, but hoping to create a society in a new land that reflects their beliefs ? What do they see and discover when they first set foot in a new world ?
Just to add a bit of spice to things, the two entries I most like (and are linked in comments to this post, so I can find them !) that are posted by midnight (GMT) next Saturday will each get a prize of one Hive SBI.
This link will take you to the FAQ where you can read more about Hive SBI - it's a project I thoroughly support because it gives both the donor and winner a steady trickle of passive income paid out in the form of upvotes on posts.
