Si las cuentas no fallan, ayer mamá cumplió 83. Bendita sea la tecnología que me trasladó de manera virtual, de Buenos Aires a Cumaná, durante una hora de risas, historias y hasta algunos reproches.
"¿Quién me va hacer mi torta de piña?" Fue lo primero que me dijo el lunes cuando la llamé, porque desde hace un par de años yo era quien le hacía su pastel de cumpleaños. Ella e @isauris aman la torta de piña con locura y era el pastel que ambas me pedian. Me partió el corazón no encontrar quién le llevara su torta de piña, aunque mis hermanas le compraron un pastel delicioso y la festejaron por todo lo alto como ella se merece.
La foto de mi #TBT de hoy es de abril 2022, cuando celebramos los 80 años de mamá. Una ocasión unica en la que nos reunimos casi todos sus hijos para festejar a su lado. Y es que para que coincidamos todos bajo el mismo techo se tienen que alinear los planetas. Ese día ella estaba tan feliz, olvidando todos sus dolores y disfrutando de que la consintieran. Ese día la tecnología también fue protagonista porque la llamaron sus nietos que están fuera de Venezuela y con los que hacía mucho que no hablaba. Se me llenan los ojos de lagrimas al recordar la escena.
No es la primera vez que pasamos tanto tiempo separadas o que me pierdo uno de sus cumpleaños, ya durante la pandemía estuvimos más de un año y medio sin vernos; primero por el encierro obligatorio y luego por los problemas de combustible y transporte que habia en el país.
Estoy feliz y agradecida con Dios por todos los momentos especiales que compartí con mi mamá, por todas los días pude cuidarla y hacerle su torta de piña y todas las comidas que me pedía. Y aunque ahora estoy un poco lejos y no puedo consentirla de la misma manera igual estamos siempre conectadas y la cuido como puedo desde la distancia. Si Dios lo permite, nos volveremos a abrazar para comer juntas una deliciosa torta de piña 🍍aunque ninguna de las dos esté de cumpleaños, pero mientrás llega el momento seguiremos conversaremos a través de la ventana virtual, cada una con su taza de café.

My #TBT photo today is from April 2022, when we celebrated Mom's 80th birthday. A unique occasion when almost all of her children gathered to celebrate by her side. For us all to be under the same roof, the planets have to align. That day, she was so happy, forgetting all her pain and enjoying being pampered. Technology also played a role that day because her grandchildren, who are abroad and with whom she hadn't spoken in a long time, called her. Tears fill my eyes when I remember that scene.
This isn't the first time we've spent so much time apart or that I've missed one of her birthdays. During the pandemic, we went over a year and a half without seeing each other; first because of the mandatory lockdown and then because of the fuel and transportation issues in the country.
I'm happy and grateful to God for all the special moments I shared with my mom, for all the days I was able to take care of her and make her pineapple cake and all the meals she asked for. And even though I'm a little far away now and can't pamper her in the same way, we're still always connected, and I take care of her as best I can from a distance. God willing, we'll hug each other again to eat a delicious pineapple cake together 🍍even though it's not our birthday, but until that time comes, we'll continue chatting through the virtual window, each with a cup of coffee.
