Simple DIY to Keep Us Occupied During the Storm

in Earn, Spend, Give4 months ago

When life throws a storm your way - quite literally, it's time to divert your attention to something more productive. So while the storm was raging outside our home, we decided to stir some changes indoors (more like I decided to do some changes as I just kinda forced my brother and sister to help me out). Our kitchen has got to be my favorite part of our house. So a few days ago I ordered something simple to make a small change on it. My love of making my favorite lattes, cooking some snacks, or a big batch of meals for the entire family, I can say I spend a lot of time there. As someone who does not like to see clutter, it's important that it looks clean and organized all the time.

It's just perfect timing that the kitchen organizer I ordered had arrived today. Big salute to all delivery drivers who are still working even if there's a storm and being in Manila, probably even encountered some flooded areas on the way. Who delivered my order in the biggest bubble wrap I've ever seen, still smiling while soaking wet from the rain...

Here we are trying to put the stuff together while the rain is pouring outside. The entire time my brother was stressed because he was sorting some of our things upstairs that might get wet because of the rain, he could hear us trying to figure out the instructions. Couldn't find screws, couldn't find what part goes to where... He knows he has to step in.

Here's me taking charge of holding the part that needed to be put in while my sister figures out the instructions and my brother puts on the screws.

Sister stressed because she thinks my brother putting the wrong part..

And finally, its done. Simple organizer, simple instruction to follow and somehow needed to be put together by three people. A good little activity that gives us a break from scrolling through our phones, bed-rotting in the middle of the storm.

This DIY project was not perfect, and absolutely did not follow a pinterest-inspired plan, but it turned out a rewarding experience. Fixing just a small part of the house can be fresh in the eyes and makes you do more to making it better.

When the storm finally passed, so did the storm in our kitchen. There's now a fresh space that makes cooking more fun and peaceful as I can now navigate through it without getting irritated from trying to find what I need.

So the next time when a storm kept me indoors, have nowhere to go and nothing much to do at home - I'll try to think and remember if I have projects that I've been putting off. I might surprise myself by what kind of good changes I can do at home. Maybe my siblings will get inspired as well and offer help, again. wink

This is what kept me occupied during the storm. Thank you for reading my not so exciting day. Until my next post. Have a great day everyone.

Thanks for writing the post. Keeping busy during difficult times is important to keep from being scared or bored. Overall I enjoyed the post however, seeing the water that you were fighting, or the bubble wrap that you found astonishing, or you standing proudly beside the finished product so I could better judge its size would have really added an extra dimension to the post.

Next time perhaps.

Yes it's a great diversion on what's really going on outside. A little challenging at first but a good outcome. Didn't get to take a photo with the finished product. I'll do it on the next one😉

Hehe... I hope you know I am just trying to make sure each post gets better over time. Looking forward to whatever comes next.
