How to earn on Hive : Initial investments

Many ways to earn on HIVE

Now that the @hiveabbyftp account has HBD staked and is bringing in regular interest it is time to figure out how that interest should be spent! Hopefully you check back from time to time and see how the investments work out.

All the money that comes into this account will be interest from @hiveabbyftp HBD savings. It makes 20% interest and pays out every 30 days. Now with the current savings of $5500 that means roughly $3HBD daily or roughy $90HBD per month.

Mostly I'll be looking at the following ways to make income:

HBD Savings
Delegation
Liquidity Pools
Curation

Getting HBD converted to Hive

Now when I got my HBD interest it went right into HBD savings. That's great for making compounded interest but lousy for movement. First thing I had to do was to cashout some HBD savings to liquid HBD. That took 3 days.

Once I had the HBD in my account I could either (a) use my wallet to convert to HIVE but that takes time or (b) I could deposit those HBD into the Hive-engine t get SWAP.HIVE which happens much faster (usually minutes).

I opted for the quicker route. Yes, I do pay a 0.5% fee to do it this way but I was impatient.

Now moving from my HIVE wallet to Hive-Engine requires I sent the coin to graphene-swap AND make a memo. It isn't difficult but I'd certainly want to double and triple check the wallet ID's so that nothing gets lost!

A few minutes @hiveabbyftp had 69.5 Swap.HBD except I wanted it to be held by @terganmarket. Simple task just set up a simple transfer and the funds move very quickly.

But now what?

After this account has the swap.hbd its time to convert it to swap.hive (which is more versatile. Simple task just head over to tribaldex and do a swap.

Just choose swap on the top tab. Choose swap.hbd as from and swap.hive as to push go and there you go, I am now holding a bunch of swap.hive tokens.

How am I going to distribute those initial tokens? Well, I already some HP in this account so I'll do it like this :

1. 50 HP delegated to hive.voter
2. 50 HP delegated to Hive Pakistan
3. 50 HP powered up but not delegated so I can vote on people's posts
4. The remainder put into a liquidity pool for SWAP.HIVE : SPS for income.

As you can tell I now have over 169 swap.hive

I'm going to click the "Withdraw" button and move 100.6 tokens over to my @terganmarket account. Why 100.756? Well, it will take a fee of 0.5% from the transaction and I want 100 to be in my account so I can split it between hive Pakistan and my own curation.

Now that takes a little while to move over so while I'm waiting I'll go back to Tribaldex and use 50 SWAP.HIVE to add liquidity to the Splinterlands SPS liquidity pool.

Quite simple to do. But if I want to add 50 HIVE value to the pool it has to be exactly 50:50 mix. 25HIVE and 25HIVE worth of SPS. Here's what it looks like:

First: Swap 25 hive over to SPS

Next click on "Add Liquidity" then choose the SPS:Swap.HIVE pool then add 574 SPS and 25 Swap.hive to the pool like this :

Now I'll be earning liquidity pool rewards, horray! However, if you don't know how to collect them you'll be accruing value without seeing it. I'll write again tomorrow to show you how to collect the coins.

By now my HIVE is in the main wallet</center

50 HIVE has already been delegated to leo.voter, 50 will be delegated to hivepakistan and the other 50 left to upvote comments. However, I can't delegate until I lock it in! That's easy to do...a simple click beside my HIVE and choose power up as so.

Once I've powered up its simply choosing "Delegate"

Now in a weeks time I'll be receiving regular payouts from the Hive Pakistan curation efforts. Plus I might get a nifty badge from them. Horray!

What will the rewards be like?

Actually I'm kind of curious about that myself. However, I need to wait a week to see what my curation efforts will reward me with and how much hivepakistan will payout. The liquidity pool and leo.voter rewards will come in daily but to be fair I'll wait for a week to compare everything.

That just leaves me with a little swap.hive left over. What better thing to do with that than convert to Swap.HBD, move to my account as HBD, then put it into savings for the 20% interest.

It's only a fraction of the original $70HBD (about 10%) but at least it makes interest regularly during the day and pays out every 30 days.

I'm curious to see how the investments perform.

Is instant and you save the fees of tribaldex.

I thought there was that 3 day turnover from HBD to HIVE.

I have converted HIVE to HBD but they have the -- you get some now and the remainder in 3 days. I thought it was the same going HBD back to HIVE

I'll have to check that out next time. :)

Well, at least from PeakD. I'll try again with Ecency at another time :)

Yes in peakd take 3.5 days because use the on-chain convertion. In Ecency use the internal market when people swap HBD/Hive pair all the time, is like a trading spot.
